That really is a strange one, if you had done something wrong the Xbox 360 wouldn't have booted after you updated the nand. Does the 360 give any indication of what might be up? RRoD or any indication from the ring?

Make / get a clean dump of a game to test. If that doesn't work check the settings in the VHS menu (press select on the XBM menu to see this) I believe their was various different drivers to load ISOs. Maybe a memory card issue as mentioned before?
