If you like your arcade games on the Xbox 360, MAME 0.72 Release 8 is the version to have. It's the latest update to lantus's port of MAME 0.72 for Jtag / RGH consoles, with updates by Gamezfan, code from iq_132 and BritneysPAIRS, and compiling by Traace. Releases 3 to 8 added hundreds of games, fixes and sound improvements to a port that already had pixel shader filters, a cheat menu, hiscore support and 4-player support.

New in Release 8:
- Newly supported: DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou (and Black Label), EspGaluda, Ketsui, Oriental Legend Special, Puzzle Star and The Killing Blade (the Cave PGM games, with an improved ICS2115 sound core).
- Now working: Gardia, Fighters History, Noboranka, Photo Y2k, Power Instinct Legends and Metal Slug 5 (which needs an updated ROM).
- Sound added or improved: Crazy Balloon, Knights of Valour and Knights of Valour Plus, Oriental Legend and Photo Y2k.
- The 32-bit Data East games now run correctly, thanks to an ARM CPU core updated from later MAME.
Getting going:
- Copy the MAME72 folder to your console's hard drive or a USB drive.
- Put your MAME 0.72 ROMs in a roms folder. MAME72/SYSTEM/mame.ini looks in game:\roms (next to the xex), usb0:\roms, usb1:\roms and hdd1:\roms.
- Launch mame_0.72.xex from your usual launcher.
Controls: Back + Start exits to the menu, a click of the right thumbstick opens configuration and a click of the left shows the on-screen display. Change the shader from the options screen, or with CurrentShader in mame.ini.
Cheats: they're switched off by default (CheatsEnabled = 0 in mame.ini), so set it to 1 to use the cheat menu. There's a second cheat.dat in the general folder's alternative cheat dat file folder that covers games the main one doesn't, such as Battle Garegga and Night Slashers. To use it, swap it in for general/cheat.dat. hiscore.dat is in the hiscores folder. You'll need 0.72 ROMs and samples of your own.
