Nearly ten years after launch, Sony have put out 4.80 for the PS3.

How to install:

1. Format a USB stick as FAT32 and copy the PS3 folder from the zip onto it, so you end up with PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP.
2. On the PS3 go to Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media.
3. Leave it alone until it's done.

The stick has to be FAT32. A PS3 won't read exFAT or NTFS, which catches a lot of people out with bigger sticks.
