Flashed Xbox 360 asking for an update?

Hello,

I have an XBOX 260 4GB flashed (I know it is not JTAG,it was a DVD modification,not sure on the LT version.Less than 3 I think), which I primarly use for playing backed up kinect games.

Games I recently burned are asking for an update ("An update is needed to play this game" or along that lines).My dash version is 2.0.13599.0.

1. Is there a dash version to which i can safely update without losing my ability to play backed up games?

2. Will that help with this message,as I don't know what exactly is this "needed update"?

If this update is something drastic,modifying my flash,which was required for some games,then I better off not doing it.As I can't get anyone to flash this again.

I am signed out of live,if that matters.

13599 (or anything later) is the version which re-flashed the DVD drive.

So your DVD drive probably has been flashed with the new firmware by Microsoft as your on 13599, which means the console much has been flashed after that, so updating to the latest dashboard *should work*

However if you have a really old version of "LT" i can't guarantee you will be able to play any newer games without re-flashing the DVD drive.

Your current dash is over 5 years out of date, so it's really hard to say anything and be 100% sure. At a guess you shouldn't be any worse off, however update at your own risk, i can't promise everything will be ok.

Thank you for your reply. It is really nice of you to help a newbie like me.
I have 2 questions more if you don't mind.
1). Is there a way i can check the flash version/LT version without opening the console? This is a XBOX slim.Could it be RGH? Or are they the same,but 2 different names?
2). Are you saying no updates after version 13599 modified /re flashed the DVD?

1. Unless you have the files from when the console was flashed theirs no way i know of to tell.
2. Microsoft only released one updated DVD drive firmware, however if your console doesn't have the updated DVD firmware every new update will try and flash the DVD drive. However if that's already happened no update will try re-flash it again.
