:O I'll have to install gnome3 on my ubuntu ;) I don't like fedora at all, Debian based distros are best!

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
sudo apt-get install gnome3-session

(not installed yet) :P
 
I used to quite like Gnome, it just looks so confused now by taking stuff from Windows / OSX and making a very big mess of it all.

Kubuntu is just ubuntu with KDE desktop environment, ubuntu has Gnome (and 11.04 has Unity). You can install gnome3 with my instructions in kubuntu.

you might be able to help me is it possible to upgrade to a final realease of linux when you have a beta installed or do you need to do a fresh install

this actually works,it doesnt mess with your current configuration and all you do is change the session at the login screen

see attached image for better viewing and it kinda looks like a iphone tabs(circle with X) when you click on activities

can anyone help me i installed linux but i get a blank screen of a CLI which says $localhost login: which should have booted into the gui my laptop was fine with
ubuntu and kubuntu also it grabbed load of updates even tho i had latest release the dvd version 3+ gigs

which linux? if you installed the beta expect things like this to happen

Yes it is possible to upgrade to the final release, but the final will be released on 28th of this month so you could just wait
