Is Xbox 360's "Red Dot of Death" a real issue?

The truth is I've never had any problems whatsoever with my Xbox 360 S, neither does my sister's Xbox 360 S, or anyone reported they had a "RDoD".

So, what, is this real or fake?

This only came up again on a YouTube video by a PS3 fanboy, oh that's right, fanboys.

By the way, downloaded Sonic 4 Episode II demo + Sonic CD demo on PS3 (via US PS Store) and it felt like I was playing on a Sega Mega Drive, because the PS3 controller is fantastic for old school 2D games.

I bought my Xbox 360 (Fat) when I started High School about.....3 1/2 years ago. I'm now in a university and I still have the Xbox 360. Never had any problems with it. I'll see if I can upload a pic of it. It's 'custom painted' (Not best quality, I did it when I was like 15) and the faceplate's power button is broken

I think it was / is a real issue as i know people who have had several RRoD's, I was even playing Gears of War on Nimrod's console once, the console got graphical artefacts, froze then got an RRoD when powered on again.

I've never personally had a problem though, my launch 360 lasted 4 years, I jtagged it then it sadly died two weeks later... probably had something to do with me Jtagging it, as something burnout out on the motherboard.

However since then i purchased a new console which ive never opened, thats been fine for 3 years now. I also managed to get another console to Jtag and that's been fine for 2 1/2 years now (touch wood) Revisions of both consoles in my sig.

My first 360, which I got a year after launch got RRoD after about 3 years. I haven't had any problems since...Microsoft definitely improved their design over time.

its real just not a big isssue its happends when your console over heats from my experince happend 1ce

The "Red Dot of Death" is supposed to be for the new Model S and "Red Ring of Death" for the older Xbox 360s that were before the Model S.

RRoD was believable for the older models but now, it's very unlikely for an Xbox 360 S to have a RDoD.
