Version 1.23 is the most used version of Jazz Jackrabbit 2, since it is the final version of the main game. The best known copy of this version would be the patch that would update version 1.20, 1.21 and 1.22 to 1.23. Interestingly, this patch does not add the extra ctf level that came with 1.21, Chemical Warfare, meaning if you owned 1.20 and used this patch, you would still not get all the content from the previous releases. Depending on the version you would be patching, you would also get a different intro sequence for 1.23, since patching 1.20 or 1.21 would keep the Project2 logo, while patching 1.22 would keep the Gathering of Developers logo.
This version is also the version the Asian market seems to have gotten. Not a lot is known about these Asian releases at the moment, although at least a Japanese, South Korean and Taiwanese release are known to exist. A copy of the South Korean release has been acquired, and on the disc an installer was found for the full version of 1.23. No other new content or language options were added to this release, it is the regular version 1.23 with the Gathering of Developers logo at the start. Interestingly, this version came with a copy of Jazz Jackrabbit 1 on the same disc, instead of a separate disc like in previous releases. The release itself is a clear jewel case in a cardboard sleeve, which has a flap on the front that contains the screenshots and additional artwork for the game.
A shareware version of 1.23 also exists as 1.23s. This version is available as the same kind of patch that exists for the full game, which you can use to patch version 1.20s and 1.21s, and as a seperate installer. The installer comes with the Gathering of Developers logo at the start.

- Changed default to UseDirectSound=true (New galaxy works on most PC's, those who don't can turn it off, seems driver bugs with SB16 has been fixed/Unreal test bed).
- Fixed music always be reset to 100% when entering level, restarting game, etc.
- Command-line "-nosound" option didn't work with the new sound system, fixed.
- Minimized server now gives up TimeSlice and maxes out to 50 frames/sec, works better when multitasking.
