Modern Warfare 2 glitch unlocks full Xbox Live Arcade games

A glitch has been discovered that will allow anyone who owns Modern Warfare 2 to play the full versions of certain arcade games by quick launching the game from the Modern Warfare 2 title screen.

At the moment it appears the games that can be unlocked include:

• Metal Slug 3
• Metal Slug XX
• Fatal Fury Special
• Samurai Shodown II

To perform the glitch do the following:

1. First download a trial of one of the above games
2. Launch your copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
3. When the game gets to the press start button screen leave it there
4. Press the guide button on the controller
5. Select Quick Launch and select the game you want to load.

The game will load up as a full version, Xbox Live play, achievements and all the games features will work perfectly.

Its not really that glitchy anymore, a lot of people just used hacked consoles and cheat like crazy on the game.

I don't own Modern Warfare 2, but it's seriously amusing to know such thing is possible. What could possibly trigger MW2 to see a quick launced game as a full version? I thought the permission to use a full version was stuck within your gamer profile, as well as your console's rights DB.

I've been hesitant to try this. I remember the FIFA incident all too clearly when there was a glitch to get the DLC for free, and a bunch of people were profile and console banned

You could quite easily do this by accident, its not impossible you would use the quick launch feature to launch another game that just happens to be one of the games that unlock. Its not really your fault if the full game unlocks when you play... its not permanent anyway, you have to do the glitch every time you want to play the game.

Indeed. According to Microsoft's TOU for Xbox LIVE, you may do anything with your profile as long you don't use 'external equipment' to modify games and your profile. With external, they simply mean any other device than your Xbox 360+ related hardware/Games for Windows, etc. Thus making usage of this glitch is completely legal judging from Microsoft's point of view.

However, some people that used the profile glitch to cheat their Rank 100 in Gears of War 2 did got banned, merely to pull down the amount of cheaters that ruined the 'online experience' for others. That glitch didn't require any external equipment, just 2 profiles on 1 console. So don't completely rely on their TOU.

This also works with the Modern Warfare 2 demo, so I guess anyone can now do this... oops someone messed up there!

Thats the only game worth playing with the glitch, I dont know why the glitch works with the demo, you would think something like that would be sorted out asap.

I tried it maybe 2 days after this was posted and still no ban hammer, I think you'll be fine.
