Download Xbox 360 NXE Full Dashboard + Avatars [Offline Install]

An updated version of the NXE from June 2009 has been uploaded, It is recommended you install the latest version, Checkout the post on it here.

This is the latest NXE which was released on Xbox Live last month. You can download this and place on a DVD (or even USB drive works) and install the NXE without connecting to Xbox Live. Great for helping friends who arent on Xbox Live experience the NXE or updating your own consoles which you don't connect to Live for any reason.

Instructions:

To create a DVD or CD:

1. Click here to begin downloading the update folder. Save it as "$SystemUpdate_Fall08.zip" anywhere on your computer.
2. Place a blank disc in your burner.
From Windows Explorer, select Open Writable CD Folder Using Windows Explorer or open the CD drive icon.
3. Open (double click) the zipped $SystemUpdate_ Fall08.zip folder and drag the contents of the zipped folder to the root of the CD Folder. If the CD write window doesn't open by default, drag and drop the folder onto the CD/DVD RW drive.

InsaneNutter has created a video to try and help those of you who are having problems:

f*** its not working i tried dvd .restarted the console 4 times but no go.although i did download the earlier NXE preview(posted on this site) and the nxe final 2.0.7357 is it because of that anyway i can rollback? i really want the avatars

Realy easy to use a USB memory stick if you have one. All you do is put the folder in the root of the memory stick and plug it into the xbox and it should ask you to update (May need to restart).

I can try that but i doubt itll work i bet i shouldnt have installed the nxe final version from pirate bay,now i spose my xbox detects this update to be the same as the one i downloaded.

Thank you once again. Now me XBL-less friends can experience the full NXE. =)

Edit: With the previous version of the NXE is extracted the file, and placed the $SystemUpdate folder on the root of the CD and it worked. Have you tried that way yet? Is your way the most recommended?

It worked for me both times using a USB thumb drive. I downloaded the NXE preview from this site, then downloaded the update with avatars from Xbox.com and it updated without any trouble. I've always had issues trying to update my consoles using a CD/DVD.

thanks nimrod, im going to install this on my sisters xbox over the weekend... she dosnt have the internet so this will please her greatly x

Nope did not work by a USB but worked when i put it on my ipod!

Audio problems after update?

Been reading that some people have lost some or all audio after installing NXE, especially those with HDMI connection. I have the Elite with HDMI setup to Samsung HDTV. *-)

I have an Elite 360 connected to my Samsung T260HD via HDMI and so far I haven't come across any audio issues after installing the NXE. Mind you, I have downloaded it properly (through Xbox Live and my console isn't modded).

Thanks

OK, thanks for the info. No, my console is not modded either. I don't have live, but now I see that the Fall 08 upadte is available at xbox.com for those without Live.

I'm using an HDMI > DVI cable along with the optical out, and I'm not experiencing any audio problems. I do however have a 3-5 minute freezing anytime I try using custom soundtracks in games now whether the game is installed on the hard drive or not. :@ So, I've lost my favorite feature, just so I can have a quieter 360.

This is the same download as the one on Microsoft.com, Its hosted here too as a lot of people came here looking for the NXE :)

Try clearing the cache on your 360’s hard drive.

Reset your Xbox 360, and hold down the A button as a game is booting up. This new code allows you to clear the entire hard drive cache.

Or go to the system blade and then select memory.
Now press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Not sure if that works with the NXE but it did on the old dash.

Note this will clear any title updates and they will have to be re downloaded, the rest of your data will be fine.

I never thought about that. I remember people having to do that when they were having problems with Oblivion back in the day. I'm not having any issues with any game, just when I try using custom soundtracks. Thanks for reminding me of that feature. I'll try it later today.

If you want to use a CD to update try using a burning program rather then just dragging and dropping

I have a french xbox 360 would it still work ? I tried with the usb key and the cd and turned the console on and off like a dozen times but I still don't get any access to the content of the cd/usb nor the instalation pop-up. It only tells me that I have a mixed-data cd. What should I do?
I even tried with ipod (even thought i'm not sure i could've done it) and a mp3 usbkey style. Please Help !:P

Got some screenshots of the folder structure of your usb key so I can try and see what you’re doing wrong? It should work fine on any Xbox 360.
