Want homebrew on a PS3 without installing custom firmware? PS3HEN, the Homebrew Enabler, lets a console on supported official firmware run homebrew and backups. It's applied from the PS3's browser every time the console starts, so it's not a permanent modification. Version 3.6.0 has payloads for official firmware 4.80 to 4.93.

Tip: HEN only works on a console on one of the supported firmware versions, so don't update the console if you want to keep it working. Once it's running, a launcher such as multiMAN v04.60.00 is handy for the backups.
