Not sold on the Skype 8 redesign? Skype 7.41 is the classic Windows desktop client, with the old contact-list layout and the familiar call and chat windows.
Download:
Download Skype 7.41
Unzip it, run SkypeSetup 7.41.0.101.exe, then sign in with your Skype or Microsoft account.
Update: Microsoft no longer supports Skype 7, and the Skype service may refuse to sign in with it. It's here as the old version, not as a recommendation to use on a PC that's online.
