Using more than 500GB drive in an RGH/JTAG Xbox 360s

I have seen many people posting about their Xbox 360 slims with huge amounts of Gigabytes, sometimes getting to 6 or 8 Terabytes !!
I understand that RGH/JTAG systems can use drives above 500GB and it is also obvious that you cannot squeeze more than one HDD into your slim.

So, how do they get to do it?? and if that is possible at all, can these systems be used normally online as official?

I have Demon installed and was looking at my possibilities for upgrading my 250GB drive.

I think you can go up to 2TB internal then have up to 2x external hard drives up to 2TB each in size also. I'm not sure on the actual size limit, however i seem to remember over 2TB and you would have issues. At the time I posted that guide 1TB was the largest you could buy an internal hard drive that would fit in the 360.

I am pretty sure these guys take the DVD out and use the internal space for more hard disks (or a 3.5" HDD). Practically, you only need the dvd for transferring to HDD, so making it external seems logical. I already tried a 2TB drive and was able to transfer everything on my 250GB drive on it using FATXplorer. It went fine with the following exceptions:
- I cannot see the drive in the official xbox dashboard (expected)
- In the RGH dashboard I see it as 1.82TB but for some reason it feels as if it is a 250GB drive when looking at the free space (currently have 5GB free, which is not true). I suspect something transferred from the 250GB drive is causing this to happen. It may have been because I transferred the SS from the 250GB drive..... but I eventually deleted it since it has no role here, but it remained showing less free space than the expected. Similarly, it may be due to the fact that I backed up all my 250GB drive partitions then restored them on the new drive. I hope I will not have to reinstall or transfer all my games again. That was painful enough to do it once

Possibly both, if you flashed the 250GB security sector as far as the 360 is concerned its a 250gb drive. If you have removed the security sector you will need to format / partition the hard drive again so you have a partition with all the space usable.
