About XBMC for Xbox:
XBMC4XBOX was once called XBMC (XBOX Media Center), then it was ported to other platforms and became plain XBMC or XBMC Media Center without the XBOX connection. To differentiate this version from the multiplatform XBMC it was renamed to XBMC4XBOX.

In previous years there has been less developer interest in the XBOX version, as the new multiplatform version of XBMC became the primary concern. As of last year, only one developer (Arnova) still looked after the XBOX version. Lack of interest from the XBMC developers got to a point where a new home was needed for the XBOX codebase, and earlier last year it was moved to its own home on sourceforge: XBMC4Xbox | Download XBMC4Xbox software for free at SourceForge.net and a community site et up at XBMC4XBOX.

Fast foward to today and the stable version 3.0.1 of XBMC4XBOX has been released, A huge amount of work has been put into this, and it features numerous additions and improvements over the last release.

Whats new:

• librtmp Support (RTMPDump) to support many online video streaming services.
• Updates to dvdplayer’s ffmpeg libraries, including some tweaks for additional speed. Performance with h.264 for example is much improved from previous releases thanks to plenty of optimisations upstream.
• Many improvements and bug fixes to the video/music libraries and scrapers.
• Python updated to 2.4.6 as well as improved compatibility for addons intended for mainline XBMC.
• Support for encoding CD’s to the FLAC format.
• Now ships with a customised version of the Confluence skin optimised for the XBOX.
• Bug fixes and updates to many core components such as Samba and libCurl – such as compatibility with Windows 7 shares.

Epic, this is great news The build on my console is over 2 years old so i will be upgrading asap!

Bug fixes and updates to many core components such as Samba and libCurl – such as compatibility with Windows 7 shares.

Its great that is finally fixed, I could never get SMB shares working with Vista either.

Neither can I, mine looks to be running a build from June 1st 2009! with the mplayer.dll from April 2007 (that mplayer.dll would play DVR-MS from Windows Media Center perfectly)

I have since upgraded to an Nvidia Ion Nettop running XBMC to play 1080p MKV content on my TV, however the Xbox still gets used from time to time for media

The skinner, NineT9mustang is very gifted.

However, this skin is the prettiest I come across. It runs great if your hifi or tv has this blue light thing.

The skin is very old, and I don't know if itll run with the new build. So, if anyone using the new build can tell if its worth updating

I can not find a download of that skin so its hard to say if it will work, just copy the new build to a new folder in your apps folder with the skin and run it, see if it works.

The settings from my old build did not work and caused XBMC to crash, so you will have to re configure everything.

Its worth it if you want to stream from a Windows Vista / 7 machine as its been a bug going on for years now. You can use a lot of the new plugins now too.

I use an Nivdia Ion based Nettop for my XBMC too, plays 1080p content perfectly so I also don't really use the Xbox for that anymore. If you have time to set it up again it doesnt hurt to upgrade, I don't think we will see another official Xbox release for a very long time now.

its not a jtag xbox.it is just flashed with lt+

First of all, to run any homebrew, be it xbox or 360 on a 360 you would need a jtagged unit.
Secondly, XBMC4Xbox is for Xbox1, not for 360. So you'd want this for an old xbox, but not for your flashed 360.
