Xbox 360 VPN setup for Xbox Live - Buy DLC & Games on Demand from the Japanese Market

I know about Dodonpachi, I was at Gamestation at 9am waiting a few days ago when it came out lol Got Deathsmiles PAL too.

I had considered a region change on a console then removing the exploit to go on xbox live but still cant get my head around if its detectable or not. I assume it probably is but if the consoles not flashed and currently exploited then I'm not sure its something they would be looking for. I'm happy paying for my games either by importing or GoD.

I've got a few jtag exploitable RROD consoles lying around so might give it a go if I get one reflowed to fix the RROD.
 
Tried doing this but it seems the JP server on veryfastvpn is currently under maintenance and has been for the last 2 days... Does maintenance at this VPN provider usually take that long or did they just take down the JP VPN....
 
Not sure to be honest as i have not used the VPN for a while now. I would email them and ask when they expect it to be back.

i donwload ninja gaiden black by vpn . when start the game i get msg like -ur game region didnt match ur consol .

do i just forgot about it >< and loss my ms points or there is fix for it

my account i dont know becuse i just dont really know how to tell ,,its not like they ask me when i creat my GT so i dont know ,,my email id info was and time is

newyork so i used a NY VpN

VpN used is NY US
my xbox is PAL

please advise

Unfortantly you appear to have missed this right at the top of the tutorial:

Note 2: Its also worth mentioning games on demand games use region locking, so if the game is region locked to NTSC-J for example, even if you buy it like this it will not work on your PAL console. Do some research on what you plan to buy first.

Nothing you can do about that with a stock console sadly.

First of all i would like to thank you for making such an amazing guide for getting the dlc which is not available at the region where you live

i have some queries , if you dont mind can you just help me out

Q1. Is this method safe , is there a possible profile or console ban if you are using this method

Q2. The vpn setup using the windows built in vpn service is not working for me so i am going to use tunnelbear as an alternative , is this a problem because tunnelbear keeps switching the ip constantly .

Q3. can i make my live profile from the xbox after setting up the vpn connection .

Q4. you said that after 1% there will be no ip checks so can i use a my normal internet to download , i dont get the point here , if you use normal internet to download then wont the xbox profile sign you out thinking you are not in that specific region and also there will be check at 99% so are they going to check the ip that has started downloading at 1% = 99% because i think there will be an issue if this is the case because tunnelbear keeps switching the ip's if you restart it or if a connection is lost

Q5. How do i create my xbox live account , should i create from the xbox connected to vpn or a pc connected through vpn or pc connected through normal internet .

Q6. If i download the DLC on the vpn xbox live account and use it on the current region live account , will there be an account suspension . because i ll be unlocking achievements of the dlc that is not available at my region , wont microsoft see this and becoming suspicious and issue a ban

Q7.How am i suppose to redeem the points through the xbox live account , should i redeem from dashboard or from pc connected

Q8.I have figured out a simple solution , its a bit tedious but can you just tell me whether it is worthy of trying

I have 2 laptops

Step 1 : i will open tunnelbear on one laptop and make my wifi internet shared to local area connection so that i can use this laptop to connect my xbox to USA xbox live

Step 2 : i will simultaneously have my normal internet connection on my second laptop and here i will bridge the wifi and local area connection or share it .

Step 3 : i will redeem the codes on the xbox live or pc (answer suggested by you) and then buy the DLC and wait for it to reach 2% , as soon as it reaches 2% i ll just plug out the ethernet cable and connect it to the Laptop2

Step 4 : as soon as the download reaches 99% i am going to plug out the connection form LAPTOP 2 and connect it to LAPTOP1 which still has the tunnelbear running and hopefully on the same ip

So by doing this i am just making sure that both the ips match at the beginning and ending of the DLC download if it is very much required

Sorry for making the message too long but i had to clear out my confusion , no one seems to reply in any other forums , I just joined the forum recently but i think i going to sticking here for long .

1. Its safe, your just tricking Xbox Live in to thinking you are somewhere your not.

2. Should work fine if you have an IP in the region your pretending to be in when the download starts and finishes.

3. Do it before on Xbox.com, it will be a lot easier, however i dont see why not.

4. The point is downloading through a VPN can be slower than dialup internet, and yes you will get signed out of live, however when you re connect the download continues and there is no check again until you get to 99% so be sure to be back on the VPN by then.

5. Up to you, just make a windows live account for the region you want to download in. Aka signup for a hotmail account, give a US address and say you live in America if you want the US Xbox Live.

6. No its not a crime to have a game on your profile that is not out in your region.

7. As you normally do, on the console or Xbox.com

8. It should in theory but you will not know until you try it.

Hey man,I was hoping you could help me with the problem I have.
I do everything like you did,but instead of finally connecting I get an error saying that my username/password combination is wrong for some reason.Any idea on how to fix this?(my login info is obviously correct)
 
You need to obtain the user / password from your VPN provider, only your VPN provider able to help with issues like that.
 
Is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on games on demand, region locked?

If it is, I'll just use this guide for Japanese demos and themes.
 
Most likley, only a couple of Xbox Classic games were region free i believe. Play Asia lists the retail copy as region locked so i imagine the download will be the same.

and i use tsunagarumon for Japaneses VPN since it's 100% free
Very Fast VPN doesn't have any Japaneses VPN when i checked
 
Is that for a full game you got that message? if that's the case then it's correct.

Demos have never been region locked from what i recall, for example the Raiden Fighter Aces demo works on any console, yet the game is region locked to Japan.
 
Memories Off: Yubikiri no Kioku is the only demo that's region locked I have found so far.
I have brought some themes from Japan Xbox Store by using PayPal payment (I remember the old days where Paypal didn't exist as payment for xbox and I had to place a safe bet on eBay for some xbox indie games)
Anyways, does Japan Xbox Store have any exclusive arcade or indie games?

Nope just Games on Demand game, Japan has a fair few games not released to the rest of the world. Some are region free, however most are not.

My favourite region free shumps are ESPGaluda II and Dodonpachi Saidaioujou.

Well worth getting these two, I think ESPGaluda II is on games on demand, dont think Dodonpachi Saidaioujou is yet as its only recently been released as a retial title.
 
Hi there. I'm hoping you can help us out. I have followed your instructions inch by inch but when I try and turn on the file sharing in the vpn I get an error message 1060 - service is not enabled. It seems to be some kind of ip error but damned if I can figure it out. Any idea why I can't share the vpn? The vpn works fine, just can't connect it to the Xbox. When I follow your instructions I see everything exactly as you show it. Hope you an help me, just moved to Moscow and my son is driving me crazy to get cod add ons. Thanks!
