XCAT now has a Launcher application!

XCAT Launcher will check to see if your current version of XCAT is up to date and undamaged, then will update/repair it and launch XCAT to start the archival process on your drive.
This will facilitate automatic updates so an end user does not need to manually update XCAT. This is especially helpful for ENDGAME payloads like the upcoming Skeleton Key.

--------------------------[XCAT Launcher 1.07]-----------------------

Release info:
-------------
Xbox Content Archive Tool (XCAT) is a utility that runs directly on an Xbox console to
assist in finding unarchived DLC and other lost content. When run, the application will
scan the Xbox hard drive for any content that has yet to be archived and upload it
directly to the servers of the XCAT Team for later analysis, sorting, and archival.

XCAT Launcher is a tool to ensure you are always running the latest XCAT release without
having to update your memory card, or anything really!

Using XCAT Launcher:
--------------------
  1. Transfer the XCAT XBE file to the console via FTP, memory card, DVD, or Endgame exploit.
  2. Ensure the console has internet access.
  3. Run the XBE and follow the prompts.

Privacy Disclaimer:
-------------------

  Your Privacy Matters
Before proceeding, please be aware that XCAT is designed to scan your Xbox hard drive for
the purpose of archiving. During this process, XCAT may identify and upload files that
  are not currently archived.

  What We Collect
XCAT automatically uploads unarchived files discovered during the scan as well as unique
console identifiers. No other data is collected or uploaded without your direct action.

  Your Choices
You have control over your data. If you do not wish to have any unarchived files uploaded,
please exit this application by selecting the option below. By choosing to continue, you
are consenting to the automatic upload of these files.

  Consent and Authorization
By continuing with XCAT, you grant the XCAT development team the authority to handle the
uploaded files. It is your responsibility to ensure that these files do not contain any
sensitive, private information or unlawful content.

  For More Information
For detailed information on our privacy policy, user agreements, and an outline of the
specific paths and types of data that XCAT scans and processes, please visit our

Hi Harcroft, Just running XCAT on a newly built HDD and so far I'm at 397 files indexed (1%) and I have 86 files newly archived!

I'm surprised at this because everything on this HDD was obtained from the Internet only recently.
Im curious now if there is any way for me to see exactly what the content is that it has found?

XCAT will hash the following locations and folders in this order:

  • C:\
  • E:\
  • F:\apps\
  • F:\applications\
  • F:\games\
  • G:\apps\
  • G:\applications\
  • G:\games\
  • X:\
  • Y:\
  • Z:\
Early on during the scan it's likely finding your savedgames in E:\UDATA\
If you have a lot of Redump or other clean game rips on your HDD XCAT will scan those but wont upload any of them.
The next update for XCAT will showing what file it's currently processing. As for seeing exactly what's on your HDD, you have access to your hard drive, you can look at the contents at any time.
There may be a future option to download a report of any new files uploaded, but it's not a high priority yet.

XCAT update v1.02 is live now!
The long pause between uploaded batches of files is fixed and there's now a display showing what file you are currently uploading.

Currently at 300 files newly archived and still uploading right now, albeit slowly. Neat tool

Hello. Really appreciate the work you're doing to get DLC archived. Just wanted to say that Xcat 1.02 is crashing my Wifi. I have my Xbox connected thru an ethernet powerline to my router. At one exact point in the hashing/uploading, at a very specific bite number, Xcat will crash my Xfinity wifi. All devices lose connection and I have to restart my router. I have tested it multiple times to confirm it is Xcat. Hopefully this is helpful. Thanks.

I talked to the lead dev and the only idea we had was your ISP performing deep packet inspection and getting overwhelmed by the high number of small files. The lead dev is working on TLS support which would fix that issue if that's what the cause is. We're still not sure if that's the issue at all, but we'll keep looking at it.

If you think you have something important on your console you can always submit your drive dump manually to me the old way.

Thanks for trying it out.

The XCAT services are not down. The back end is rejecting your virtual EEPROM as an invalid console.

Update your softmod to not use a virtual EEPROM and XCAT will work fine.
Oh is that why. I locked it earlier. Cos I had an issue where I lost all the OS on the xbox. But thanks to thos Web site. I found the files again. To add back to the xbox.

Will unlock again tomorrow. Then Try again

Hi @Harcroft ,

I see info here about version 1.08 but the links seem to only point to 1.07.

Also, any word on fixing compatibility with the latest Project Stellar OS? Seems like a DRM issue causing a black screen on launch.

Cheers!

XCAT Launcher will check for, then download the newest version of XCAT, then run it so you don't need to find the newest version of XCAT yourself.

The maker of Stellar and StellarOS feigned ignorance (played stupid), and lied when the lead dev behind XCAT tried to work the problem out with them. Aside from that they are actively attacking myself with literal libel and edited screenshots to lie about myself and people who help out with the preservation work. I have zero interest in working with them to fix their broken firmware. XCAT isn't the only community project they made incompatible with their modchip.

While there may be a fix on our end in the future, it's very low on the priority list. For now you can use any other modchip or softmod, or roll back your Stellar FW to a version that doesn't break community projects.
