Hey guys I will be installing at 500gb hdd into my xbox 360 elite and I had a few questions since it has been years that Ive did any work on a 360.

After I install the drive what exactly will capable of doing? Will it allow me to play original xbox 1 games or do I need to do another step? Can I use this drive to play GTA 5 as it asks to install about 8 gigs worth of files before it will play? By installing this drive will it affect my Xbox Live account in any way? Appreciate any help you can give, thanks.

You can play original xbox 1 games, you will have to transfer partition 2 files using xplorer360.
GTA 5 can install to this drive.
    Xbox live will work fine.

    Hi all!

First, I read the guides InsaneNutter, Hoffman, and even Harcroft posted on this topic. I bought a 120gb harddrive without realizing it was not OEM (seller lied) and kept having disc read issues (particulary with Skyrim). But if I use the disc with my original 20gb HDD it works fine, no freezing or disc errors. Cleared cache on the 120gb and formatted drive via 360 but nothing changed. Some games would work but not the one I wanted.

I finally came across InsaneNutter's tutorial, ended up flashing the WD Scorpio Blue WD1200BEVT 120GB harddrive. After HDDHackr confirmed the flashing worked, I formatted the drive with the 360 and then brought it back to my computer via sata to install partition 2. I tried Skyrim (cd and via install) but it sometimes works after clearing the cache but immediately freezes a few minutes in. But I played for hours when using my Microsoft Drive. Also, the partition 2 method I used doesn't let me play Xbox games. But I confirmed the Xbox games work (via my old drive fine).

Any thoughts or suggestions on what could be wrong/missing here? 360 sees and interacts with the drive fine and some games work alright. I even plugged it into my computer and checked the partition 2 which was there but still not being read properly.

Thanks for any help you can provide in advance!

You could try adjust the Idle Timer (IntelliPark) on the drive, that stops the drive from random spinning down when its inactive. I believe i just disabled it on a recent drive i did. You should just be able to disable that with hddhackr.

Hello. Is there a security sector file for a WD1600BEVT? I see it listed as supported but I can't find the security sector.

    Thanks

Hi, I've run into a problem where I think I've bricked my (second) drive.

WD5000LPVX, followed the tutorial with the correct HDDSS.BIN. The flash went through successfully (or so that's what Hddhackr told me). Turned off my computer. When I turn it back on, the drive makes 2 short screeching noises, and my BIOS no longer sees anything attached. HDDHACKR sees something, but can't seem to pull up any information on the hard drive.

When I try to restore with my undo.bin, it gives me "Western Digital Vendor Intro failed on port 0xB800." I try to resend by unplugging and plugging in the power, but it doesn't respond. Is my drive bricked? I have the undo.bin with the correct information.

Note: I thought that this could be a hard drive failure, so I got a replacement from my merchant... I'm on my second hard drive and the exact same thing happened. Thanks for the help.

Doesn't really matter in all honesty, just type the name of the .bin file in correctly and it will work

Use the 120gb security sector, no official 160gb drive exists so you can only use 120gb of space on that drive with the 120gb security sector.

    Thank you for the reply!

I used HDDHackr to completely disable the IntelliPark. Plugged the drive in but got weird messages about something on the drive being corrupt/files missing needed to do an xbox update (I'm connected to live via LAN). I ran the update but it would keep cycling between giving me the error once the xbox booted up and downloading the update when I okayed it. Finally I formatted the drive and cleared the content cache. This appears to have resolved the issue.

I ran Skyrim, but once again the harddrive froze (though I got further this time than before). Not sure what's causing the freezing as official HDD plays the disk just fine.

Also, does formatting the hdd effect the partitions? I did partition 2 earlier and still the xbox claims the drive is not official and does not support older games (but my official 20gb plays the discs alright). I used Hoffman's partition 2 and Xplorer360 Extreme 2 definitely saw the partition 2 on the drive fine.

I think the issue might be the physical drive, but before I buy a 500gb wd from online, can anyone confirm if the scorpio blue's run skyrim-type intensive games without any issues?

Hi guys! I followed all the instructions to the letter but got an error in the creation of the undo.bin. Now the disk is not recognized in BIOS and windows. But hddhackr is able to see it in real DOS.
The disk model and firmware is WD2500BEVT-60A23T0. I need the undo.bin file to restore it and try again! Or... if thereĀ“s something else I can do, let me know!

    Thanks a lot!

Extract the compatibility folder from partition 3 and inject it in to the new drive, that's where any original Xbox saves are.

Use Party Buffalo Drive Explorer, you basically right click in the folder you want to and inject the file. It will all be pretty obvious of you download the app and have a play with it.
