Here is a Pokemon Crystal Save containing a collection of GEN2 event Pokemon obtained from the Pokemon Center In New York, among them are Celebi and multiple egg events. The Mew has been traded up from Pokemon Blue, it was obtained from the 1999 ToysRus Distribution Event.

This save was originally shared by Gold Ursaring from ProjectPokemon, all I have done is trade across the Mew from the 1999 ToysRus distribution.

The save contains the following Pokemon:

  • Mew (From 1999 ToysRus Distribution)
  • Celebi (Enough unique Celebi to make a team or two filled with them, obtained from Pokemon Center New York)

Shiny Distributions:

  • Meganium
  • Typhlosion
  • Feraligatr
  • Entei
  • Raikou
  • Suicune
  • Lugia

Pokemon With Special Moves:

  • Ancientpower Bulbasaur
  • Crunch Charmander (Not A Breeding Move Generation II)
  • Zap Cannon Squirtle
  • Double Slap Lickitung
  • Leech Seed Oddish
  • Sweet Kiss Nidoran (M)
  • Flail Zubat
  • Synthesis Paras
  • False Swipe Machop
  • Fury Attack Cubone
  • Flail Seel
  • Faint Attack Kangaskan
  • Sharpern Onix
  • Swords Dance Goldeen
  • Synthesis Tangela
  • Future Sight Lapras
  • Petal Dance Chikorita
  • Double Edge Cyndaquil
  • Submission Totodile
  • Absorb Phanpy
  • Agility Hoppip
  • Mimic Aipom
  • Spikes! Delibird
  • Hypnosis Misdreavous
  • Safeguard Stantler
  • Mega Kick Miltank

Ferocious Monsters with Game Breaking Moves:

  • Splash Snorlax
  • Splash Sunkern
*Nintendo actually selected Splash as a distribution move on several occasions, as if getting a Sunkern wasn't bad enough.

It's probably been posted before but I stick to very few threads on this forums. Most of the stuff here is beyond me. How do you backup gen 2 Pokemon saves? They're nothing too special but not everybody can get them. Eventually I'd like to get the Kabuto ID: 20000 and the Amnesia Psyduck from Pokemon Stadium. As well as the Pikachu with Surf and any other Pokemon Stadium events. I have both of them and a friend told me about how to just cheese the game by using Mewtwo.

I created a tutorial on how to Backup GameBoy and GameBoy Colour save games from retail cartridges, it works for all GEN1 / GEN2 Pokemon games.

The problem you have however is that you need to buy additional hardware which is quite obscure today and hard to find. I used a Gameboy Transferer 2, however to even use that you need an older PC with a parallel port (also known as a printer port).

You could do what you want with an emulator however, Project64 for example can emulate the transfer pack so you could get those Pokemon on to a save file to share with others.

I think a few old action replays / gamesharks could also backup / restore save games too.

Thanks for uploading this save. I had a legit Celebi from a Fun Fest at Six Flags. My Crystal battery died a few years back.

Dang, there's not a shiny Ho-oh in this save. Awesome work though, thank you so much for your efforts. But I will keep looking for the shiny Ho-oh just for Lugia's sake XD

So cross checking your save with his, only event pkmn, won't do much?

If you read his video description he basically says he's spent time creating the save, i'd presume from using information on Bulbapedia.

It's honestly hard to say, it might be as legit as you get at this point. However the Pokemon in the save above have been obtained from trusted people.

A sad day... Any forums is should post to try and find someone with that Event Shiny Ho-Oh?

The work you two, HaxAras and InsaneNutter, have done on these event saves (particularly the gen3 event save) is simply amazing. I wish these threads have been around a year or two ago when I was looking all over for a gen 1 and 2 event saves. I eventually found the one you linked, but not nearly as fast as I found it now looking for gen 3.

To thank you guys, I'll be uploading my save with my personal surfing pikachu, and the Stadium 2 pokemon, a baton pass Farfetch'd and earthquake Gligar. Regretfully the Amnesia psyduck, and some of the stadium pokemon like the 20000 kabutops, are the few pokemon I have not gotten.

I'd also like to elaborate on some other methods of backing up Gen1/2 saves.

First, the cheapest currently available I've seen in the "cart flasher for gameboy" by J. Rodrigo sold on "tindie". I haven't personally bought it, but for ~$30 it's the cheapest i've seen. It can read both ROM and SRAM data, as well as write SRAM. it also can write to flash chips found in many bootleg games. Whats more, the seller/creator has made it entirely open source with code and schematics available.

Second, is the "joey" by bennvenn. It's a bit more expensive, ~$50 but adds GBA support.

Third is using an everdrive 64 and a transfer pak. This is definitely the most expensive, but works great.

I have to pull out my games, move around some pokemon and saves, and I'll upload the save a little later tonight.

Thanks again for the work you've done.

I just wanna note that I haven't contributed anything gen 2 related. I still can't back up my save. Though I think I might have the 2000 Kabuto in my Pokemon Silver living dex.

Cart Flasher for GameBoy from JRodrigo on Tindie

I was linked this by a fellow Pokemon fan and I intend to buy it someday but I don't have work until March because my job is seasonal so it's on the backburner. I'm probably going to share my living Pokedex though. It has a legit shiny Celebi. I used the glitch to convert a Pokemon into Celebi and I used a shiny Ditto so I now have a shiny Celebi in gen 2.

Well it did look like you contributed a lot to the gen 3 save, which I saw first.

Anyway, here's my crystal save. it has a box full of unique stadium 2 earthquake gligar, three baton pass farfetch'd, two stadium squirtle (one with each box, which holds the silver and gold trophies), as well as copies of most of the special move and event pokemon in the other save already available. Finally I have my LV100 full trained pikachu that knows surf.

Are the special move Pokemon the ones from the above save or did you get those on your own?

Hello anybody!
I have a problem with the save. While trying to import it to VisualboyAdvance it tells me that there´s a problem reading the rtc and the emulator cant load it.

Don't import the save, simply rename it so its named the same as your rom and is in the same folder as your Crystal rom:

rtc-1.jpg

Load the rom, you will still get the error, however click ok and Pokemon Crystal will load as normal:

rtc-2.jpg

Next time you load the rom you shouldn't get an error.

Personally i like TGB Dual for GB / GBC games, especially if you want to use link cable functionality.

Hi, @InsaneNutter
I wanted to use this save, but I have a problem with VBA about an RTC issue.
I read what you said before, make sure both .SAV and .GBC has the same name.
However, I have the .SAV and the .GBC in the same folder as VBA, but I dragged the .GBC and open it with VBA and I don't get no "CONTINUE" on Crystal.
I just took a screenshot, and now VBA made a .sa3 file?
Here is the screenshot
