Hack a 250gb, 320gb or 500gb Sata harddrive to work in the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Slim

I bought a new WD5000LPLX and everything works fine now.

What I found out (definitly):

Win10 won't let you use Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool to create a bootable USB-Stick.

In my case I used a program called Rufus, BUT it works with FreeDos instead of MS-DOS.
FreeDos causes problems, when you use Hddhackr.

My advice:
ONLY use Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool with MS-DOS - if you have Win10, as I do... use another computer (WinXP...)

Out of curiosity did you run Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool with admin rights on Windows 10?

Glad you got everything working in the end though!

I have a WD5000BEVT - 80HXZT1 and was wondering what firmware do I use?

I loaded it up in HDDHACKR and it seams to be flashed already but the xbox360 dose not see it

Maybe this can get answered quickly. I just got a 80gb drive, made sure it was on the list of compatible HDDs.
How would I go about setting it up? 60gb (60gb actual) partition and then 20gb (14.5gb actual) partition?
Can it only be used as a 60gb and the rest is lost?
Do I have to repeat the step twice to make it two partitions? (60 +14.5)

It can only be used as a 60gb internal hard drive, any additional space will simply be lost.

You could get a usb caddy for it and use it as an external hard drive though, that would allow you to use all the space the drive has to offer.

Hey, thanks for the great guide, pretty easy to follow through all the steps.
I got my drive working in the Xbox, but then I tried to backup/restore partition 2 from my original hard drive and it simply refuses.
The backup went seamlessly in a couple minutes, but the restore just sits there (I left it overnight and it still nothing)

When I open my new drive in Xplorer360 it shows only partition 1, both before and after the canceled "restore partition 2". Is that normal? I know the drive was working, I had it in the xbox and formatted it there. It reported 293 GB (or something like that).

Any recommendations?
Sorry to post a problem, but I'm stumped. Thanks again for creating the guide and also for answering so many pages of questions!

You could try great the partitions again in Hddhackr (this will erase everything on the drive) then try resorting partition 2 right away before using it in the Xbox.

The only way is for someone to buy a drive and test it, similar drives could well work however it's impossible for me to say either way until someone tests one.

Peace,

I have Xbox 360 Slim with RGH.
If I buy a WD internal hard disk of 1TB, for example this WD10JPVX model
And flash the HDD with the HDDSS_500GB.BIN file and the hddHackr v1.40 tool,
Will it work?
Will I have 1TB on my xbox 360 slim?

Please note that I have RGH, and I'm not talking about an external hard disk, but an internal hard disk

You can just put a hard drive in, format it, and it will work. No need to hack anything for a Jtag or RGH console.

If you want to do a proper job and restore the Xbox Classic emulator too, then follow this tutorial here: Upgrade a Jtagged Xbox 360's hard drive, restore the avatars and Xbox 1 emulator

any help please?
sry for my english

Looking at that screenshot you have connected the drive via USB, you can't do that it needs to be connected to your PC via Sata.

i have a laptop, so i switch the hdd's, so that's no the problem

the thing is that on the label it says is a WD2500BEVT but including in bios the model is WD2500B, and the serial 1234567890(suspicious) maybe is not a original WD, and for that reason create the backup .bin dont work?

UPDATE: no information with hd tune pro

It's likely the SATA chipset in the laptop is not compatible with hddhackr if I had to guess. It was hard enough to find something supported with older laptops back when hddhackr was supported and developed.
