So you mean that I can connect an up to 2TB external hard disk on the front usb ports of xbox360 console and use this Hdd to install games?

How is that possible since the hdd will not be hacked?

Can it be a hdd of all manufacturers or does it have to be of a specific one?

One more thing my console is an xbox360 fat (I have hacked the dvd drive) so I can play hacked games (not interested in original or Xbox Live).

My Dashboard is : 2.0.17349.0 could you give me the latest dashboard update to apply to my console (without loosing the hacking in the Lite-on dvd drive).

Please bare in mind that I need to do that offline (from a game that applies the dashboard update, or from a usb stick).

Thank you again for all the help.

Using external hard drives on the Xbox 360 is a very recent thing compared to hacking hard drives, Microsoft released the 17349 update on April 30 2015, which allows up to 2TB hard drives connected to a USB port to be configured for Xbox 360 storage. So your on exactly the version you need to be. This is essentially like what was possible with 16gb USB thumb drives, just with a much higher limit.

See this tutorial here, simply use a hard drive up to 2TB in size instead of a usb thumb drive: How to configure a USB memory stick to be used as Xbox 360 storage

You need one of the supported Western Digital hard drives, you can't use any other brand unfortunately.

Does this process affect a flashed/modded DVD drive? More specifically, does this revert the dashboard to an earlier version in which case one would need to update the dashboard (restoring stock firmware) to play online again?

And lastly, one could move all content/profiles/etc from the old hard drive to a USB flash drive temporarily then all that would need to be done is backup Partition 2 to enable Xbox 1 games? This would cover all backing up/restoring correct? Or are there certain items incapable of being moved to a USB flash drive?

Hope this makes sense, thank you very much for the guide and help with these questions!

    1. It has nothing to do with the dashboard / dvd drive so you are fine there.

    2. You can do this, however certain games do not let you move the save. As for which i couldn't say.

It should be, if you have problems its usually down to the sata chipset on the PC you are using to hack the hard drive.

Could someone PLEASE, PLEASE help me?

My Xbox Slim E won’t recognize the new HDD!

    Here’s what I have:
    - XBox 360 Slim E
    - WD5000LPLX (tested drive for Hddhackr 1.40)
    - a Win10 computer

I created a bootable USB-Stick with Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool (where I selected the MS-DOS folder as the location).
Then I flashed my WD-drive an followed the tutorial exactly (using the 500GB security sector added on 04/03/2014).
Hddhackr tells me that eveything is fine - but my Xbox Slim E won’t recognize the new HDD!

This IS strange, because I had a Xbox 360 Slim (without E) before using the exact same type of HDD!
My old Xbox got stolen one day and so I had to start from scratch: new Xbox, new HDD… :-(

I used the same computer and followed the same tutorial back then.
I must have forgotten what's different this time, but I can't figure it out...

Here’s what I tried to fix my problem:
    - I updated my Xbox 360.
    - I tested the WD5000LPLX in my computer and it worked perfect.
    - I wiped the WD5000LPLX completely, using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic For Western Digital Drives (also tested the drive: passed).
    - I created various different bootable USB-Sticks with different Windows-Computers (Win10, WinXP) using Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool or Rufus 2.12 (with FREE-DOS or MS-DOS).
    - I re-flashed my WD-drive with and without creating Partition 0/2/3.

My Xbox still won’t recognize my drive…

Are you hacking the drive with the same computer, any problems like that are usually down to the SATA chipset in the computer.

    Thank You for your reply.

Yes, it is the very same computer.
To get my bootable USB-stick working I change the SATA-settings in my bios from AHCI to IDE

So the drive doesn't show up as not formatted or anything?

Maybe try restoring the drive and hacking it again? your setup looks fine to me. Usually not changing from AHCI to IDE is the cause of most problems.

Also just so your aware the Xbox 360 supports up to 2TB external hard drives for installed games / save these days, so hacking a hard drive is not as essential as it once was depending on what you desire.

    I'm out of ideas...

Thank You for your very friendly support!

Maybe I'll buy another WD5000LPLX and get it's UNDO.BIN using Hddhackr.
I should be able to restore both my HDDs with this UNDO.BIN, right? (as long es I don't lose it).

If I get a brandnew HDD - do I have to initialize or format it in my computer first?

    And another question:
Do I need to install partition 0/2/3 if I don't need classic Xbox-games Support?
And: If I really need it - how should I do this? Would I have to flash the HDD, turn the power of my computer off, turn it back on again and create the partitions?

I'm sorry for asking so much...

In theory you can use an undo.bin from an identical drive, do so at your own risk though as you could well brick the drive.

No you don't need to do anything with it in Windows, just proceed to hack it with hddhackr, the partitions should be auto created, if not run hddhackr again and it will create them.

Did You get your LPLX working?

I'm asking because I had two of them:
The first one worked, the second one didn't...
