Upgrade a Jtagged Xbox 360's hard drive, restore the avatars and Xbox 1 emulator

If you have the same system update as the dash you are on you can update and it will only restore the avatars, as i said in the tutorial be 100% sure.

Is there any harm installed the compatibility folder to the devkits Y drive if i have a dual NAND 360 (RGH & Retail+LT+ v3.0) console. Will MS look at this altered compatibility folder and flag it as hacked and get my profile banned when im using the console in retail NAND mode?

Can it not be installed to a USB harddrive?

It has to be on the internal drive, and if you are using a dual boot setup i would personally have one hard drive for RGH mode and another for retial. I personally would not want to be on live with a load of hacked content, however there is no proof anything will happen either way with that.

You don't have to use the hacked emulator, you can just use the normal one. The hacked one just works with more games and some Xbox 1 homebrew.

Yes that will be fine, you have the same system update as the dashboard you are on so it will just restore the avatars / kinect data. You will be fine, just NEVER run a newer system update otherwise you will not have a Jtag anymore.

Suppose I have a dash that is very old, around 2.0.4548.0 ...I have an old Xenon that I am in the process of JTAGing. Anyways that dash does not even have avatars it is the old school dash before all of the NXE stuff. What do I do in that situation? Do I just run that update again? I found a DL here: https://digiex.net/downloads/downlo...360-dashboard-update-2-0-4548-0-download.html If it makes any difference I'll be putting XeX menu on and of course freestyle dash v3 and dashlaunch.

You jtag the console first, this guide is no good until you have Jtagged the console.

Once the console is Jtagged your hacked dashboard will be the latest version. So you can follow this tutorial and use the applications mentioned in it.

Ahh I understand. When I write Xell, i'll be using 16203, so that's the update i'll probably be using, and i'll check the kernel on the console to be absolutely sure just incase haha. Thank you! Also for burning your CD, should I just leave the write speed on AUTO in imgburn?

Also, I just a 500 Gig HDD in The Microsoft HDD, I don't have my JTAG quite ready yet but I wanted to be sure this worked. I tried testing it on my regular 360 just to see if unformatted HDD would come up or anything, but nothing came up. I tried to plug it into a computer via xport 360 transfer docking station and nothing showed up there either. Did I do something wrong?

The write speed does not matter, neither does the version of the dashboard you create a hacked nand for when Jtagging the console. Although i dont see why you wouldn't use the latest 16203.

The 500gb hard drive will not work in a normal Xbox 360, i'm not sure it will even work in Xport 360 after you have set it up. It should however work in Party Buffalo Drive Explorer once you have Jtagged your console and prepared the drive as instructed in this tutorial.

True, I forgot that when you write the freeboot image you can pick 16203 from the dropbox in jrunner. I used Fatxplorer and the HDD did not come up there either but it had a message saying any device that was not formatted will not show up, so i'm on track now haha.

Yup your getting a bit ahead of yourself, worry about Jtagging first!

This is extremely easy in comparison (Y)

Have sent my xbox off to come back rg jtag, if i install a 1tb drive in to the console when it comes back, I was thinking format my new drive on the xbox then connect the drive with the new dash installed and the new drive to my pc and just copying everything from the previous drive to the new one, Would this work ie keep all the kinnect support etc

Kinda more curious if the dive keeps an index file as such to show what size it is, that way it woud restrict the new drive

You you can format it and copy all your stuff across, for kinect support you have to run the official update which is the same as the hacked dashboard you have installed. That will enable the kinect and use of avatars.

You have to use the official update, which is why its important you use the exact official update which corresponds to the hacked dashboard your console has. Using a newer version will update the console and brick it.

I copied averything I could get access to using buffalo party but still no kinect, guess my idea didn't do the trick then
