If you want custom firmware on a PSP, or PSP games and homebrew on a Vita or PS TV, ARK-4 is the one to reach for now. It's from the PSP-Archive team, with Acid_Snake behind ARK-4 itself, it runs on a PSP with official firmware 6.61, and it supports the Vita's PSP emulator too. Not on 6.61 yet? This Digiex guide covers every PSP model.
Download:
Download ARK-4 4.20.69 r206
For a PSP, unzip it and then:
That gives you a live CFW, so you run ARK Loader again every time the PSP is switched off or restarted. For a permanent install, copy ARK_cIPL into PSP/GAME, run it and press the install button; the same screen removes it again. It works on every PSP model and picks the right version for yours. The Vita and PS TV files are in the download as well, and the project's wiki on GitHub covers those.
Tip: go live first and make it permanent later, because cIPL goes deeper into the console. Also in the download is DC-ARK, for reviving a bricked PSP with a Pandora battery. Its PC tool, MagicMemoryCreator, needs Python 3 and admin rights and writes straight to the drive you pick, so choose very carefully.
