2.0.12611.0 Final cannot update?

Hi guys! I'm new to digiex and I gotta say I really love the community here! After reading few postings on the dashboard I've decided to sign up and join.

I've updated my Xbox 360 on the BETA Kinect dashboard, which is the 2.0.12611.0 BETA. Everything is OK (except I cannot run Fable 3; my drive is LiteOn and I don't know the FW coz I'm not the ones who flashed it :P )

Checked the thread just now and it says that 12611 is now the FINAL release of the dashboard. I've tried to download the ones from the M$ website, put the folder and file into my USB's root and plugged it into my console, it gave out a black screen and a E71 error.

However, when I took out the USB the console booted with no problem. Yet it didn't update my console's dash.

I'm wondering, how do you update from the 12611 BETA to the 12611 OFFICIAL?

Oh, and I've noticed that through M$ download (and through digiex) I obtained 1 folder ($systemupdate) AND a default.xex file. Checked the previous offline update and it didn't have any default.xex (only $SystemUpdate)... what does this default.xex file do?

btw, my console is banned from LIVE so I don't have any access to it (hence the update through USB).

Sorry for the long post. I hope you guys can help me out here. :D

If you want to play fable 3 and other games with the new thing called AP 2.5 you have to wait for lt+.
 
What do you mean? Do we have to update with this default.xex file in it? I've recently downloaded it & I have no problems in it, I hope (I don't played Fable III anyway).
 
uhhh, isn't the 2.0.12611 in this site already the public version? and yeah, u only use the folder and all of its contents in $systemupdate. it worked for me...

urghh... when's the LT+ anyways? fable 3 sucks with the ap2.5 protection... >.<
 
goony : if I delete the default.xex the console won't update. it just booted up as usual, as if there's no update in my USB.

S1LV3R : will do. Thanks bro! just wondering, is there a way for us to know what FW are we running on our console?

JafriZin : no idea. I've tried deleting the default.xex but the console won't update; and it will give the E71 error if default.xex is present.

AlucardChristian : not sure about that. I've downloaded the 12611 BETA release (before 1st November), and now after the 1st November they changed the "BETA" to "FINAL". 8-)
 
You already have the final release on your console, the 12611 release we had on here on the 30th was the final, not a beta.

So it means we're not gonna see the E71 error right? Oh yeah, my avatar Reward doesn't even work anymore on my new Kinect Dashboard anyway. I'm screwed (Because I'm an OFFLINE gamer) unless you should update via XBOX Live.

It's kinda interesting E71 shows up at all. Normally if you place a system update USB in the 360 that is either the same version, or a previous version, it ignores it. I wonder whats up with the E71.

Not missing much. Maybe by the time LT+ is out Lionhead will fix all the bugs.

Companies push updates too fast. Microsoft already found a bug in 12611.
 
yeah same here JafriZin. I'm an offline player too and I my avatar Reward is rendered useless... awwww I miss looking at my avatar wearing 'em Alan Wake's scarf with RDR's sombrero... T_T
