A title update
is an official patch for an Xbox 360 game: the update the console downloaded from Xbox Live when you started the game. Each one is for one game (its Title ID) and one disc version of that game (its Media ID): a title update only loads with the disc version it was made for.

There are two kinds, and the file name tells you which:
- TU_ files, for example TU_1D4A1UQ_0000008000000.00000000000G2, go in the Cache. On the Xbox 360 hard drive the Cache is its own partition (Partition 3), and a USB drive configured for use in the Xbox 360 has one too, so use a FATX tool such as Horizon, USB Xtaf or Xplorer360 to inject the file.
- tu files, for example tu00000003_00000000, are the larger title updates games were allowed later in the console's life. They go in Content\0000000000000000\<Title ID>\000B0000, not the Cache: BioShock Infinite's (Title ID 5454085D) goes in Content\0000000000000000\5454085D\000B0000.
