You're contradicting yourself. Why does it matter if we use gates and lifts? They perform the same at keeping mobs out as doors, so why not allow them? Some players prefer them for aesthetic reasons and other for functionality and I think that we should provide that option to our players.
There is a lot that is not realistic about Minecraft, so there's no point to your argument.
Things that are not realistic: redstone, portals, noteblocks, pigzombies, enderman, skeletons armed with bows, glowstone, lava/water dynamics (e.g., seemingly infinite propagation of water). I don't care as to what any of your rationalizations you have to these and whatever else that isn't "realistic" in minecraft. It wasn't meant to be a life simulator, it was meant to be a GAME. My point is, you're just trying to find an excuse to leave out [gate] and [lift] because you don't personally see the advantage of them over other methods.
I mean really, you say
and if pistons make lagg then you can make doors so we dont need [gates] for anything
But how are we to cover a 5x5 expanse with a 2x1 door?
Edit: Finally, there's this
only thing i don't like that i would lose my craft book redstone makers
So you don't really want CraftBook's ICs to go and you don't think that signs that perform the functions of complex redstone within a single block is cheating?
If you're going to say [lift] and [gate] are cheating, don't show your disappointment for losing CraftBook ICs. (And yes, I understand that you were okay with having to build the full thing anyhow, but disappointed nonetheless.)
