Amazon and Apple - Outside of the US you can now buy Amazon Video subscription via Apple App Store

With all the news going around about Apple and Amazon's fight back in the day with de-listing of Apple TV's from the Amazon Store, Amazon's refusal to make an Apple TV App and how they have now made up and released the App - something bigger seems to have gone totally unnoticed. It seems you can now officially buy Subscriptions to Amazon Prime Video in the Apple App Store app directly via In-App Purchases.

This feature doesn't seem to exist in the US (which is why most the US based tech news sites are not covering it), but if you are in an Amazon supported region outside the US, you can now directly pay for your subscription via the Apple App Store. The big question is, does Apple get a 30% cut like it forces on Spotify and other services, or have Amazon and Apple come to some sort of agreement and in turn Amazon becoming the first provider to get around Apple's In App Purchases Policy?

If Amazon and Apple can come up with some business deal like this, does this then give leverage to other providers of Services like Spotify who have struggled with Apple's aggressive 30% cut on all subscriptions?

 

Of course, one can also say that this 30% chunk Apple takes when buying the subscription through the App Store is justified, if that makes more people subscribe that wouldn't do it through Amazon themselves.

Although I'm not really aware of how these apps work. I suppose you need an Amazon account to do anything at all? I suppose it would be cool to have an app-only subscription that solely relies on your Apple ID.
