can't get system update

this question is about a unmodded 360s I tried to install the latest system update it got about 3/4 finished and restarted booted back up to a black screen have tried everything nothing works Microsoft says I need a repair for $100.00 dollars when the update is what messed it up is there a way around the repair to get this update
