Background:

As you can see from the screenshot below Creative are not happy that Daniel_k managed to create better drivers than they could manage for Windows Vista. Creative are now trying to stop people getting the most out of there current hardware by stopping the drivers from been distributed. Digiex has created a mirror for these drivers as we believe you shouldn’t have to buy new hardware simply because you want to keep up with the times and use the most recent version of windows.

Two versions of the Driver are provided. An exe containing just the Vista Drivers which works with both Vista 32-bit and 64-bit and also an ISO which has all the drivers (Both Vista and XP) and creative installers combined together.

If you are just looking at drivers for your Vista install, you will only need the Vista Drivers. Though if your interested in having a CD containing all the drivers for Windows, that is also available. The CD can also be used with Windows XP and includes some nice changes over the standard driver cd you would have got when you bought your Audigy. Please see the authors release notes for instructions on how to install.

Driver ISO Pack for XP and Vista

This driver pack includes drivers for the same as above, but also includes Windows XP drivers and all the software for both Windows XP and Windows Vista. It is presented as an ISO image which you will need some CD burning software like Alcohol 120% to burn to a CD. The benefit of this is you have an all in one CD for the whole Audigy range for both Windows XP and Vista.

- WaveRT Pull Mode enabled by default
Does not seem to cause any problems, but if you ever need to disable it, follow these steps:
- run the Registry Editor (Regedit) and open the following registry tree:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
- select Search (or press the F3 key) and type EnableWaveRTPullMode, deleting the value when found.
Restart the computer.

- Built-in Decoder (requires Windows Vista Service Pack 1)


To use the built-in decoder, make sure it is enabled in Audio Console.

Select "SPDIF Out (Creative SB Audigy (WDM))" as the output device of
your player and then configure the AC3/DTS filter to send the stream
through SPDIF.


When you restart your computer, the Tone settings (Bass and Treble) are not applied.
Just readjust one of the controls one time per boot.


- EAX effects, Advanced EQ and Special FX


EAX effects only work in 4.1, 5.1 e 7.1 speaker settings.

Advanced EQ and Special FX only work in 2.1 speakers or Headphone settings.


- EAX effects, Advanced EQ and Special FX (Using SPDIF Out)


All effects work properly, but when you restart your computer, the Tone settings (Bass and Treble) are not applied.

- There is no sound in games with OpenAL support or using Creative ALchemy


Disable Advanced EQ and Special FX selecting "No effects" before running the game or program.


- Equalizer settings are lost

It happens after you run a game with OpenAL support or using Creative ALchemy. This issue also occurs in Windows XP, so it is not specific to this Windows Vista driver.
When you restart the computer or run Equalizer, the saved setting is automatically loaded.



- No sound when CMSS is enabled using Audio Console (4.1 or more speakers)


Just move the Stereo Focus slider and set it back to the desired position, even if it is 0 (zero). Once the setting is saved, works properly. This issue does not affect EAX Settings.


- Windows Vista MIDI Device Configuration Utility


Use this utility to change the MIDI playback device for 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
The driver installer automatically selects the first hardware MIDI synthesizer found.

Fully integrated and automated install, supporting Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), installs proper drivers. Includes all latest software available.

It is MANDATORY to disable UAC (User Account Control) before installing the package on Windows Vista (specially the 64-bit version).


Revision 2 release notes:

- Removed "Diagnostics" from 64-bit systems.
- "Smart Recorder" for Windows XP now works with MP3 files and has a more friendly "My Recordings" interface.
- Includes "MP3 write" codec, the latest free version included in Audigy CDs, doesn't work with WaveStudio 7, though.
- Updated the Windows Vista driver to ver 2.15.0002.2 (build 6.0.01.1302), latest version for X-Fi which also works with Audigy cards.
- Removed old WHQL driver and non-WHQL multilanguage driver to save space.

Known "Windows Vista only" issues (so far):

- "Speaker Settings" crashes during uninstall; just close the "Windows encountered a problem" and uninstall will proceed.
- Environment presets acts as Karaoke presets (effects are applied to Microphone).
- Advanced EQ and Special FX presets are available through "EAX Settings" application. You can edit and save the presets, but you can't delete or edit them once saved.

Known issues:

- The Microphone controls may be disabled in Karaoke player. Just use the Windows Mixer and "EAX Settings" / "EAX Console" and to adjust the Microphone volume and effects, respectively.
- Do not install Entertainment Center unless you have one of the supported remote controls (RM-900, RM-1000, RM-1500, RM-1800), otherwise it is useless.

I posted this on Digg and I figured I should post it on here too in case anybody has any solutions for me. Here's what I posted:

Boy is this getting confusing! I have had trouble with SP1 in that, after install, it shows my amount of RAM at 16.0 GB's, when in reality I only have 2 GB's. I've been in contact with Microsoft on this and they are even stumped, though apparently still working on it.

But I've done a little research of my own on it and found a web page that list SP1 driver incompatibilities. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates. If you scroll down, you will see my Creative Audigy SE listed there and that's what I run.

I downloaded the P17X_PCDVT_LB_1_04_0079.exe and installed it, but it was with SP1 already on it and of course, it did nothing to fix my problem because I stupidly forgot to read that you should install this driver before installing SP1.

So I uninstalled SP1, then installed the driver. No change. It still showed me running 16.0 GB's
After that, I just uninstalled SP1 and said "heck with it" for awhile. But then I ran into this site:

It also talked about Daniel and his drivers. But the drivers listed on this page for my Audigy SE had different numbers on it than on the other page and the file was bigger also, so I downloaded it.

At this point SP1 was not installed and I went ahead and tried to install this newer driver. I didn't get very far. Eventually a screen popped up that said it did not detect any device, which was surprising to me because my Audigy SE was installed. So I aborted and now I am back to the drawing board.

I have even done extreme things to solve this whole SP1 incompatibility issue, including actually removing my Creative sound card all together, getting rid of as many Creative registry entries as I can and then enabling my onboard sound, Still no change in the amount of RAM showing.

So I am back to running my Audigy sound card and right now I am not running SP1. I also waiting to hear from Microsoft on this issue. It's been a mess!
 
From my experience uninstalling a service pack is not healthy for your PC. I haven't tried uninstalling SP1 of Vista yet as I have had no need to do so, so the only thing I could suggest you try is re-installing Vista and then installing the sound card drivers you got 1st.

I just join this forum solely for help with this install.
I have a SB Audigy 2 ZS, it's in my tower, and I downloaded the drivers.
the installation went great i was able to do everything with little or no problems.

However, I have no audio....well I do but its veryyyy quiet. Instead of my wonderful music there is nothing but static.

Have I missed a step or did I do something wrong.
 
Did you re start after installing?

A few things to check, go in to control panel > sound and make sure the Audigy 2 is set as the default sound device.

After click configure and do the setup for the type of speakers you have, then test and see which if any speakers get sound.

Also I think it goes without saying check in the mixer you haven’t muted the application playing your music and also check the volume is on 90-100% if you’re using your speakers to control the volume.

It sounds to me like you just accidently muted the sound or turned it down really low.
 
Yes it seems ive done everything listed above. The computer recognizes the card, everything installed great. The wires are all hooked right but its stil static/low volume. The only thing I can think of is something about the slot not having the right hardware? But to state again, all volumes are up, and everything looks connected?
 
The driver has worked excellent for me (better than it sounded in an XP machine) since installing it back in April. But after installing SP1, it must have a conflict with those drivers, because it takes upwards of 3 minutes to boot up now. When I remove the drivers, the machine will boot up normally within 40 seconds again. It sucks, but I'm not replacing a perfectly working $250 sound card, and definitely not paying Creative another cent ever again after this mess. :@

Im really running out of ideas to suggest especially as you say you have sound and say it’s just very quiet.

Remove the drivers, re start, install them again, re start and then ensure the volume is turned up and not muted for everything and check the speakers are connected correctly and working. Its unlikely the speakers have broken but if you can test an MP3 player or something with them it would rule out the possibility there broken.

This will also unlocked any disabled or hidden features for Windows XP as well, if you’re planning to re install any drivers I would personally install these.
 
also just entered the forum, and as one man said - "it will fix any problem with a crackling and dirty noises in the music play"..first time after testing i thoughts its finally resolved but its isnt so! Time after time this crackli sounds is craching the music when its playing more and more...sht i think its imposible to reolve already..
 
are there newer drivers from daniel_k? or did creative finally manage to make good drivers? just asking because i think i have an old audigy soundcard in my garage :) sometime ago i tried some drivers that should be universal called kX audio drivers but wouldn't work... so i'm hopping there are news from Daniel Kawakami :)
 
As far as I know these are the latest and final drivers from Daniel K, creative have improved their drivers but I believe these still offer a lot more features.

They work perfectly with my Audigy 2 on Vista x64 SP2.

your drivers are way better then creatives i just argued with a rep a while ago cause my graphic equalizer didnt work on vista and i had to get third party drivers just fro my card to work to begin with but your modified creative drivers are the shizz you are king i almost wanted to say to creative im going to danial for support i sure they would understand but i didnt cause i respect what your doing. now my drivers arnt going to stop working in a month are they?

I’m not Daniel K but no the drivers are not going to stop working after a month, ive been using them for well over a year on Vista now and there working perfectly.
 
Thanks for posting this download package, I can finally take the leap to Windows 7 (x86) from XP (x86) with my Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro ZS. It's working fine so far (just installed it 10 minutes ago) on Windows 7 SP1 (slipstreamed fresh install). I was looking for the Creative Graphic Equalizer and the CMSS 3D 'Stereo Surround' mode functionality for music. I did take a risk by installing this package over the officially provided drivers, without un-installing them first. I'll report back if I notice any issues.
 
All working well, no issues after reboot. My Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro ZS lives on with Windows 7. Awesome work Daniel_k :-D.

Edit: Spoke too soon, the CMSS up-mix isn't working properly. Only the graphic equalizer is useful.

Question

Recently i switched to Windows 7 64bit Home Premium and had to upgrade the drivers for my creative audigy 2 zs sound card. Old wouldn't install ofc. I'm using the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series driver v2.18.0017 [2010.04.09]. I used to have 3 CMSS modes for my speakers: one for mp3/music playback, one for dvd/movie playback and some stereo option that i never used. I used ONLY the one for music playback. Now i got only one option - the CMSS 3D. The music sounds 100% different and i don't like it at all. It's like my subwoofer is missing. I'd hate to switch back to WinXP 64bit. Is there a way to make that old driver work on Win7 with that CMSS mode (EAX console)? Any help appreciated.
 
Hi there, I am new to the forum. I have just downloaded the driver and installed it on my laptop which is running vista ultimate 32-bit. However, I noticed the surround mixer with treble and bass control is now gone. All the other functions eg. EQ are still working fine. I would be grateful for your advice as to where to go from here and how I go about getting the surround mixer function back. I look forward to hearing from you soon, many thanks
