This question gets asked so much in the download center im getting tired of repeating myself so ive decided we need an FAQ.

Things that will get you banned:

  • Having a flashed console - if the DVD firmware is flashed in your console expect to get banned eventually, you might last 2 weeks or even 2 years depending on how safe you play it.
  • Having a jtagged console - you will be banned instantly if you go on live with a jtagged console.
  • Playing pirated pre-release games on live - not only can this get you a console ban it has in the past got people profile banned so be warned.
  • Trash talking on live - if enough people file a complaint against you sometimes you will end up with a temporary ban.
  • Using accounts pre-loaded with Microsoft Points: - will result in console & profile ban, this includes hacked profiles used to unlock arcade games / dlc.
  • Modifying the avatar to different colors - will result in profile ban.

Things that will NOT get you banned:

  • Downloading demos from Digiex - Demos are free, play them from your hard drive, usb drive or a DVD Microsoft really don't care, demos are free to demonstrate the full game.
  • Downloading themes from Digiex - All the themes we have here are free on Xbox Live, you will not get banned for downloading a free theme, its the same as a friend putting his memory card in your console and getting a copy of your theme.
  • Hacked hard drives - maybe at some point Microsoft might release an update that can disable hacked hard drives like they did with the datel memory cards, however its almost been 2 years now and nothing has ever been done about hacked hard drives. (your using them to store purchases from live anyway...)

Things that might get you in trouble:

  • Gamerscore hacking - if you are caught tampering with your gamerscore it will be reset to 0 and you will be moved to the cheater zone on Xbox Live. I dont think anyone has ever got banned for this though.
  • Pre-release title play - People have been banned in the past for playing games early, 99% of the time these are pirated games that have leaked to the internet a couple of weeks early. E.g. Black Ops.

Have i missed anything? if you know if anything else that can be added to this let me know :)

Ill try and improve the list a bit later, just done it quickly off the top of my head.

Well, there are a couple more like using a turbo controller, using exploits in a game (glitches) and having an offensive gamertag but those are quite obvious. :P

I didn't know that you could be banned for using a turbo controller. You can always tell who's using one when playing games like MW2 or Bad Compnay.

You can file complaints, thats pretty much it though, its not as if Microsoft knows you have a turbo controller.

I would say that would go under things that might get you in trouble, although to be honest I don't think anything has ever happened to anyone who used the gamerpic injector.

  • Piracy/Theft, Cheating, Fraud, Phishing, Nudity, Sexually Explicit Material, Account Selling/Account Tampering.

you can also get banned for joining a modded MW2 lobby and ranking up super quick , but after sending a complaint to MS they re instate your account

KingBurns has been banned every time MS has done a ban wave, he just buys another console then plays for another year.

If you think a new game is around $50 - $60, now say you pirate 3x games then you have saved enough money to buy a new arcade console. You can even sell the old console and any unwanted accessories / games that come with the new console and save even more money.

I know a few people who do this, I dont agree with it... Just wanted to point out how people manage to do that for little cost.

I know this might be a dumb question but....
Is anyone in the XboxBeta online with a flashed drive.

I was using my external hardrive to transfer my girlfriends xbox stuff to a new xbox. Using, of course, xbox dedicated memory and accidently unlocked her stuff with a dlc/xbla organizational and unlocking program. When I tried to transfer it the new xbox said the dlc was corrupted. I'm just redownloading it all directly from the marketplace but worried about getting her account band...what do you guys think...am I screwed? (Cause I won't be getting screwed if I banned her account)

When you copy data like dlc that doesn't unlock it,if its corrupted then it doesn't matter & wont get any account banned.

I'm not sure what this means though?
dlc/xbla organizational and unlocking program
