As many sites including Digiex have reported, Gears of War 2 was leaked onto the internet a few days ago. Thanks to a couple of our members we can now announce some details which haven't yet been fully confirmed or denied. No spoilers as to the games story are given and we do not wish anyone to post storyline plots which could damage everyone's enjoyment when the game is released.
Rumour 1: Cooperative play, is it four player or two player?
The screenshots below confirms that the game only supports two players in the single player campaign.
However Horde mode, which is similar to Invasion game mode in Unreal Tournament 2004 is classed by some people as "cooperative" supports 5 players, this game mode uses multiplayer maps and has no story line.
Rumour 2: Does the game support bots?
Indeed it does, now on any multiplayer game except Horde, you can add up to 9 bots (total 10 players). The bots have various skill levels and can be very challenging even to the most experienced players. They also fill spare gaps allowing humans to select which team they want to be in and the bots just fill the spare gaps.
To top it off, although its not possible for our members to try it on Xbox Live, they did note that bots are available in system link games, meaning the netcode for them does exist making it highly likely they are supported in Xbox Live games.
Rumour 3: Does the game have more Acts than the previous?
Like the original, it only has 5 Acts. Though from experience of members playing them they take a lot longer than acts on Gears of War 1, so the overall verdict is longer play time.
Rumour 4: Are they unlockables which can only be unlocked from owning Gears of War 1?
Yes, 3 multiplayer costumes are only unlockable based on the achievements of completing Act 1 to 5 from Gears of War. The other custumes are unlocked from events in single player (5 other additional ones). There appears to be no other way to unlock the 3 costumes which require Gears of War 1.
Rumour 5: The graphics are going to be insane compared to Gears of War 1?
While work has been done on the water effects, the overall feel when playing Gears of War 1 and 2 side by side, is a similar level of graphics, though Gears 2 levels do appear to be bigger. No massive improvement on graphics though.
Additional Information:
- There are 8 available game modes in Multiplayer:
Warzone, Submission, Wingman, Horde, Execution, Guardian, Annex and King of the Hill. Bots can be used in all except Horde.
- When in multiplayer, each player can choose a weapon of choice from the standard range, and that becomes one of their starting weapons.
- There are collectables throughout single player, including journal entries. Cog tags have not been found so far.
- There is a training grounds mode introducing the multiplayer game types to new players, similar to the training modes in the Unreal Tournament mode.
- In a coop game, each player can choose there own difficulty level. This only changes the amount of damaged the player can take.

Does that mean you won't be bothering playing the campaign over Live with your mates (I.e. ME!)? Good to hear you liked it though. Only 14 days to go! Bring on the Horde (mode)!
It shows all the achievements for Gears 2
J/P everyone, I don't want it to be too obvious. Else something bad will happen to me.
