What sort of server do you want to make your computer? It could be a server for many things.

Im guessing a web server as your going on about registering domains.
Have a look at Aprelium - Home and install Abyss Web Server, its quite easy to use for a beginner.

To register a domain name have a look at namecheap.com there prices are very competitive.
