How to make your internet faster

It will make your internet run faster by running off Google's DNS servers

1. Open Network and sharing center

2. Click Change adapter settings (should be towards top left)

3. Right click whichever you are running off of (wired or wireless)

4. Click Properties

5. Double click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

6. Check mark (or fill in) "use the following DNS server addressess:"

7. For "Preferred DNS server" Put in 8 . 8 . 8 . 8

8. For "Alternate DNS server" Put in 8 . 8 . 4 . 4

9. Click OK then you are done!

obviously ur dl aint gonna change the dns is cloud computing meaning google will dl page for you then send it you


only way to probibly make dl better is speedbit download accellerator which i can clarify works

or upgrade your ISP plan to a higher megabit

Im guessing if you go into router you could set dns to this as well so once thats done all devices in your house wont need configuring so its set and forget

Yup that would be the proper way to do it anyway, however unless your ISP has totally horrible DNS servers it will not make any difference what so ever.

It's always good to compare the different dns servers.

A good check tool is at grc*com ->Freeware -> Utilities -> DNS Benchmark

You would probably notice a slight difference but it won't make your internet itself faster.

All your basically doing is switching to Google's DNS servers, so unless your ISP has horribly slow DNS servers you will likely not notice anything. It will not improve your download speeds or anything like that.

I've tried this on my Blu Ray Player and it cut down the load time on streaming services such as Netflix quite considerably. Wait times use to be several minutes to load plus I had buffering issues while watching movies even with 24 gigabit service. Since changing the primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS or the search domain to 8.8.4.4 Netflix movies loads up in 30 seconds or less and no more buffering issues. I also changed my home computers and wireless devices to the Google public DNS and the wait time for getting a response resolving and loading web pages are much faster. I've worked in IT for 26 years and this little change has made a very noticeable difference. As far as I'm concerned I give this DNS change a big thumbs up!

Yes. It works. Very well I might add. Apparently some posters on here may not of experienced the same results I have for one reason or another. When I made the changes. The difference was very noticeable and very positive. Again. This may not help everyone and the results could vary depending on ISP networks and other variables that would cause some users not to see any difference. However, this DNS change turned out very well for me. Before making the change, my DNS was pointed at my router. I'm using AT&T Uverse and always had problems with their download speeds. Even with the faster speed they had available of 24 megabits, I still had issues with things loading. Not any more though. If the DNS 8.8.8.8 make your life better.use it. I did and I'm very happy with the results.
