Information:
This one is just like the one you would download from Xbox LIVE, However it is only a offline install. This dashboard update mainly serves users who doesn't have Xbox Live or has been banned but would still like to keep there console's somewhat up-to-date.

How to install:
1.) Extract the contents of $SystemUpdate.rar
2.) Put the $SystemUpdate folder in the root of a CD or USB Stick
3.) Insert that CD or USB Stick into your Xbox 360 console.
4.) You will be automatically prompted to update. Hit yes!
5.) Once the update is complete. Your Xbox 360 will restart then boot up to the new dashboard. Enjoy!

Its an Offiline install, meaning it doesn't come with avatars. However if you connect to Xbox LIVE it will download those for you.

Seeing how your posting this why don't you have LIVE? It doesn't have to be a gold subscription. If you have the internet on your PC by cell phone turn on internet sharing and plug a ethernet cord into the back of your pc

If you have internet to your PC from ethernet and have only one ethernet port then run a usb wire from your modem / internet source and turn of internet sharing, then run a ethernet cable to the 360.

Its not very hard to get your 360 on LIVE if you have internet. Even dailup should hookup but don't expect to use much of anything on LIVE without a broadband connection.

Yes, you can update to this one. However your avatar will be gone in less you connect to Xbox LIVE to download the other part of the update (avatars)

I've just updated this and I lost all of my AVATAR COMPLETELY!! I mean that guy xzKinGzxBuRnzx was right!

I should read this posts VERY VERY carefully next time.....

(I hope my jasper-made 360 won't get the RROD soon despite the lost of my avatars)

Well with it being the Jasper Motherboard the chances are rather slim compared to the Xenon or Falcon Motherboard. I never really understood why people cared about the avatars so much anyways, the clothes sucks and doesn't help in any way.

Without the avatars the default silhouettes are just crap, thats way people like avatars instead of silhouettes (Shadows).....

I don’t see the point in updating to this if you don’t have Xbox Live, anything thats new in this makes use of Xbox Live... if you ever need a new dashboard version for whatever reason it will be included with the game.

well there r newer nxe aside for this, i downloaded it and try to my xbox360 but it wont update maybe it is beta or rather my nxe is the most update one,i cant play my colin mcrae dirt 2 on this coz hes lokin for the newer update maybe for the month of sept or october.pls. if anyone there has the most newer update pls. upload it here. itll be much great help not onli me....

Even pirated games have the updates, I guess some people are on ancient firmware that carnt read the update layer on the game discs

ODST has 7371 as it works on my console I’m not updating ready for the homebrew exploit.

im pretty sure that halo3 odst has the most latest update but its good to share ur extract system update of the game.ill try it as soon as u upload it here.as it wont work on cmr dirt2.anyway good luck.

If you read the above post sir by Hoffman, as him and myself have tested it and confirmed that Halo 3: ODST comes with 7371 system update, not the latest 8498.

yes yur rite, this is the same as my cmr dirt 2 this sopposed to be update automatically. but it seems that the game wont play unless u update the latest one.and im sure that games like halo3 odst is not released yet in north america.i try it several times when i provide games specially the new released.they r looking for an update so we can play the new games.well im not expecting this gonna work as u said it is 7371.well i born for trial and errors. rhx sir for the info.but still ill expect for the future to come for the updates(nxe).

can i ask what specific new games will work on this system update(system update2.0.8498.0) aside from the games realeased before august 11/09 well its obvious the older games will work on it.

I wrote to Microsoft yesterday and they told me, that I can't add avatars for my NXE 2.0.8498.0 offline. WTF?! I have done this always and it worked. I don't want to connect to Internet, because I don't want to see BAN. Can anyone help me??
