Pokemon Question Thread

Do you want to ask a question about pokemon but it doesn't have an appropriate thread or subforum? Feel free to ask it here. That way if your question is obscure it likely has a better chance of being answered. Additionally, it will allow other pokemon fans to read this thread and learn a variety of things. Keep in mind questions don't need to have objective answers.

Here are some example questions and answers:

1. Is it possible to get Celebi in Gold or Silver without trading?
-Not through traditional gameplay but you can use glitches such as coin case Arbitrary Code Execution, sometimes called ACE to obtain it. This might prove useful (Link to the method).

2. What starter do you recommend in Emerald?
-My go-to is the Mudkip line, I love its strong move pool, using moves such as Earthquake, ice beam, surf, and toxic.

3. What's that one pokemon that can learn any move?
-Chances are you're either talking about Smeargle or Mew. Smeargle can learn pretty much any move right after it is used by using Sketch. Mew can learn any TM or HM move.

Since no one has posted yet I guess I'll start with a few questions.
1. Are Korean gen 4 games completely incompatible with other languages(with the exception of transferring from gen 3)? Research I've done so far seems to point to yes but was curious if this is indeed true.
2. Are shiny event eggs and Pokemon Box eggs from gen 3 from the same oversight as shiny Manaphy?
3. In Sapphire(GBA) if you only have a male starter and are unable to trade to get ditto/female starter, is it impossible to get an egg with the same species as your starter?

1) Yes in regards to trading with other languages. Idk about Gen 3 transfers though, as Korea had no official Gen 3 carts. I'd assume it may be compatible with Japanese at the least, assuming the roms had the JP character sets. I'll have to ask someone I know with the Korean games, hopefully they have everything needed to test this. (Edit: It is confirmed that any language Gen 3 is indeed compatible with Korean Gen 4)

2) Oversight of event egg shinyness probably depends on the event, so I can't really say. Most of the time events are always shiny-locked, but there are some instances where shinyness is naturally allowed. Pokemon Box is probably not an oversight.

3) Yes, impossible if you don't obtain a Ditto and the starter is male.
