The PS5 has been out a few weeks and Sony are still updating the PS3. 4.87 is here.

Download PS3 System Software 4.87
Copy the PS3 folder from the zip to a FAT32 USB stick (it has to end up as PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP), plug it in, and choose Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media.
A PS3 left on an older firmware can't sign in to PSN, so update if you still want the store or online play.
On HEN? Don't update until HEN supports 4.87. Sony's updater only goes forward.
