Using PSP as Universal Remote

I've seen rather a lot of threads on how to utilize the IR Remote Learning with IRShell, and while I found it out pretty easy, I can see where some newer faces in the PSP scene can get confused (I'm rather new myself.) At first I just would press a button and point the PSP at the TV, demanding it to learn the codes automatically.. Silly me. Anyways, I'm going to include a lot of screen shots so people can get a visualization of whats going on. Lets get right into it.

This is the screen you want to start at, the IRShell Main Menu. Now you wanna go to the IR Remote View, highlighted by the circle in the picture above. Then you should see a screen very similar to this:

Once on this screen press START to bring up the initial IR Learning menu, which, looks like this (told ya a lot of screen shots):

Now we just press CIRCLE to create a new RFD file (or X to edit a previously programmed command code.) You will then be prompted to name the RFD file and title it (both screens look almost exactly to this, this is the second naming screen):

Now you see a screen with nothing on it but (LEARNING MODE) at the top, I won't post this one because well, I think you can imagine.

Next up, just press the button you want to program to you desired command (eg, if you want X to power your device on and off, the press X). This should pop up (due to what i beleive if a memory issue, I could not take a screenshot with 5.0, which adds the ability to hit select to abort learning a code, which option should be shown on this screen):

Thats just letting you know its ready to learn the IR code for the button you pressed. Now think about this carefully, cause you can make your setup so its really smooth to control everything you own that has IR.

Don't wait too long to aim your remote IR at the PSP's IR port and press the button you want, you only have 30 seconds. Like this:

Next up is another naming screen! Sweet!

Now it looks a lot like the other ones, I won't bother posting it, but once your done naming your command, just press start to take you back to a screen with your button next to the command.

You can program a number of different commands. L+R will work only with another button, directions of the joystick can also be programmed.

Now after you've programmed everything to your wish, just press the SELECT button to bring up another menu:

Press the button that corresponds with what you want to do, and you then you can control your device via your PSP.

If you run into issues while learning iR codes then try to change the iR carrier frequency to some other value by pressing R-Trigger + Start and then learn the codes again. For playback of the codes you don't need to change the carrier frequency again. We need a list which manufacturer uses which carrier frequency mainly, I think.

Infrared learning remote (capture) is NOT available in 1.5 EBOOT of iR Shell.​

TEST FOR IR PORTS!

If your having trouble picking up the signal of the remote, theres a quick way to check to make sure its working properly. Using a digital camera, aim the IR port at the lense of the camera, and hold the button. It should look something like this on the display screen (you don't have to actually take the picture.):

EDIT: I figured i'd play a nice little file that many people will find useful. I am posting the Xbox 360 remote on here. (YOU NEED IRSHELL!) UnRAR then place the file in the IRCODES folder inside of the IRSHELL folder then you'll be able to use the PSP as a 360 remote. This doesn't have all of the buttons but is has enough. Enjoy!

Found 1 TYPO Gide Button instead of Guide Button. Also the Y button doesn't seem to work.
