Ok fellas, forgive me if this has been brought up but I searched and didn't see anyone mention this:

The original tutorial listed that we could use this mod on WD Raptor drives along with the Scorpios and what not. Has anyone tried this with a Raptor? If it works it means that your effectively doubling the speed of your 360's HDD! going from 54000 rpm's to 10,000 rpms!
Raptors come in a special heatsink that makes them fit in a 3.5 inch bay, are we supposed to be removing the HDD from this heatsink to install it in the 360's HDD bay? Doesn't this create a heat issue? That's the last thing a 360 needs more of is heat...

I modded my 20 GB HDD and installed a 120GB drive, now I'm thinking about going up to 250 GB's but the main reason I'm interested is because i want to make my drive faster, making games load even faster! even if it's only to a 72000 rpm drive it's still a bit faster than the 54000's!
What do you guys know about this, anyone done it or was that first bit just a typo?
 
Install problem and slow downs

Hey thx for the guide but I seem to be getting problems. For some odd reason I can't install games on the 250GB drive. Before I was able to but the moment I started trying out Last Remnant everything went down hill. For some odd reason when I load the game through the disc it takes ages to get to the loading screen, my Brother and my GC randomly show 0 and I'm unable to install games now.

When I swapped back to my 20GB everything was working flawlessly.

This is what I did:

Hacked and format the 250GB through the xbox.


  1. I was able to transfer my save files from the 20GB to the 250GB via the pc.
  2. restored partition 2.
  3. Had to redownload our gamertags which worked and had to update.
  4. Tested our games which worked with our save files except for 3.
  5. Was able to install games.
  6. After that starting doing the corrupt save file fix and transferred them.
  7. They worked but my problems started there.
  8. Couldn't install games anymore, when I put Last Remnant in, it took a very long time to load the title.
  9. GC randomly shows 0 GS while playing Armored Core and Last Remnant.

I've tried formatting the 250GB to see if that fixed my issue but it didn't do anything. After all this I swapped back to the 20GB which has no games installed, had to redownload the GT and everything was working flawlessly. I'm thinking of undoing the hack on the HDD, format it then re-run the hack again. This time transfer saves with profiles via mem card if I can get my hands on one. Oh my console isn't flashed or anything, my brother and I own legit games and we play on LIVE a lot. Thanks in advance.

After calming down a bit I've got a plan but I want people's suggestion on it:


  1. undo the HDD hack, format it through windows, reapply hack
  2. Attach 20GB HDD to the xbox transfer the profiles and saves to a memory card (that I will buy:().
  3. Attach 250GB to xbox, format it then transfer the profile and saves to the 250GB.
  4. Sign into LIVE update what ever is necessary then try installing and stuff.

Hey guys,

I'm having an incredibly frustrating time trying to hack two 250 gig BEVT drives. I followed the tutorial exactly, but my xbox will not recognize either drive. While in the computer, it shows that they are both listed as hitachi's now.

Just in case I re-flashed them on another computer to see if it would make a difference, but it did not.

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about it that I can restore the backups. The files are present, but when I try to use them, it tells me the file size is wrong. As a last resort, I also tried to flash the 120 hddss.bin and then redid the 250. I'm out of idea's.

I would really appreciate any help that could be offered.

I have a WD 250 caviar se and i tried this. everything worked ok. until i pluged it in to the 360 then it said there is no storage devices..... what do i do?
i have the original 20gb hard drive for the 360. but i formated it with nfts. how do i fix that one?
 
i have exactly the same problem
i bougth a new wd blue wd2500bevt, but i dont know if the hard drive come in ntfs or fat16/32
also i dont know if i need format the disk before do the process of hddhackr

I have a small idea though, I ve heared about many people buying a 250 gig WD (mostly scorpio 5400 rpm cuz of the price)


but as you know a 250GB HDD model no matter the manufactuer or particular model has not even 235 GB capacity

I bought WESTERN DIGITAL WD3200AAKS 320GB SATA2 which is 300 GB (about 260 *real GB*) is faster than the 250 GB model of WD (7200RPM 8.9ms response time) and has double the cache (16MB)


the scorpio model has 5400 rpm 12ms response delay and 8 MB cache...

and both have the SAME price!!!


And ofcourse your Xbox wont use the extra GB of the WESTERN DIGITAL WD3200AAKS 320GB SATA2 drive.... but it will read exactly 250GB!!! (the extra 10-20GB will be useless but if you format the disk on a PC you can use them again in your laptop as a regular hdd)

If you buy a 250GB model the xbox will read and use less than 240 GB for sure...


Why not have extra perfomance and extra capacity for the SAME money? (dont start arguments for the velocipator models... ok they are even faster but they are far more expensive.... this one is the cheapest 300GB hdd and faster than the cheapst (equal prized though) 250 GB hdd)

Followed to a tee and it worked perfectly, all game data copied over. Searched the Internet for some time looking for the best and cheapest way to upgrade and your instructions and tools worked flawlessly!!! Went from the 20 GIG to 250GIG in less than an hour!!! Thanks again!!!:D
 
i was wondering if anyone has sata 80 gig but you guys only got 20/60/120 and stuff or does one of them thing work also for the 80? me any my lil bro did all the steps and stuff but after the 0/2/3 thing it didnt work
 
the guy on that 60 gig post said that he flashed it and stuff then tryed to flash back but his space stays at 60 gig instead of 80?? should i still try it cause i dont wanna mess mine up
 
Its all about what drives Hddhackr supports, as Hddhackr only supports certain Western Digital drives thats all you can use.
 
I dont think there is any other programs out there that can flash hardrives for the 360.
