Trying to charge my Xbox 360 battery but the light on the cable doesn't stay red to indicate it is charging, I have tried the paperclip on Youtube to see if that will do the trick but no luck, I have also tried unplugging/plugging in the cable to the controller also no luck, is it possible the battery has reached the end of its life?

Is there any AA batteries that would be recommended? Might be the cheaper way to go now

I'd personally get some rechargeable batteries and a charger, then you can use them in whatever you need to.

I have some of these at the moment that seem to be ok: EBL AA Rechargeable Batteries 2800mAh they are supposed to retain their charge even when not used for a long time. Only time will tell, I can't really comment on how they will do long term.

I've not had much luck with the Duracell and Energizer batteries I've purchased previously, after not using them for a while they would no longer charge. They might have been ok if I'd used them more frequently, however I don't really use my 360 all that much these days.

Had myself an OEM Recharable pack having the same thing; took it apart for it to be just two 2400mAH Rechageable batteries and a charging board. Surprisingly the batteries are good, but the charging board likely went bad. This was a few years back so I dont have any pics of the pack.
