Info on the Xbox One 10.0.19041.4981 (rs_xbox_release_2010.201009-0000) October 2020

Release date

13/10/2020

What's New:

A new look

We’ve enhanced the look and feel of things on Xbox. These changes align more closely with our other experiences on PC and mobile. It includes some changes to our tile shape, fonts, and focus indicator across the experience. The layout is basically the same, however, so finding your stuff and getting around should be the same as ever

More content on Home
We’ve added Entertainment and Events content blocks to Home. Stay up to date on the latest activity.

Express yourself with profile themes
You can now select from several different themes for your profile, including game themes from Xbox Game Studios and celebratory themes for the upcoming Xbox Series X|S launch. We’ll keep adding more over time.
Profile themes are also available in the Xbox app on PC and through Xbox Game Bar (Windows key + G).

Private media sharing
When uploading game clips and screenshots to Xbox, your captures will now be private and viewable only by you until you share to a message, club, activity feed, or social network.
With this update, you’ll notice these additional changes:
The Captures tab in your profile has been removed.
Activity feeds now only include content that has been manually shared.
The setting to automatically share game clips and screenshots has been removed.

Sign in on multiple devices
We’ve made some changes to the sign-in experience on Xbox. Now you can sign in to multiple Xbox consoles and Xbox apps, all at the same time. Use your console as much as you want for activities like watching movies, using apps, chatting with friends, and more. When it comes to games, you’ll be able to play on one device at a time so all your game progress, achievements, and saves will stay up to date and synced, whichever device you’re on.

Settings
We’ve added support for four new languages on the console. You can now set your console language to Greek, Slovak, Czech, or Hungarian.

Known Issues:

Audio
If the Dolby Atmos for Headphones audio setting changes when the console is rebooted or updated, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and then changing audio settings.

If the console has no audio or low audio levels, check to make sure you don’t have any audio settings that could be affecting your volume, like the chat mixer.

Guide
There’s a known issue where the audio mixer can’t be adjusted.

My games & apps
Black tiles might appear instead of game artwork when browsing My games & apps.
The Mixer app may still appear in My games & apps and can’t be removed.
Some titles may appear with an incorrect “trial” tag in My games & apps.

Profile colour
The incorrect profile color may appear when turning on the console.

System
If you use the energy-saving power mode and have automatic updates enabled, you may notice that if you leave a disc in the drive when turning off your Xbox, the game will launch the next time it’s turned back on. Simply open the guide and navigate away from the game to your desired activity.

THANK YOU! My Xbox is now recovered and back in business. I will be removing myself from the insider program immediately!

Thanks for this! Mine still isn't working though, if you have any ideas?

I've used a blank hard drive, my current firm is:

19041.4379.amd64fre.vb_release_xbox_dev_2010.201018-0000

Shouldn't this firmware be able to update mine?

Thanks!

The problem may be the blank hard drive (I could be wrong). You need to use HDD master to create the partitions on your drive.

Yes rkendall94 is correct, you can't just put a blank hard drive in the console, you needs to partition / set it up, so that is most likely the issue.

Ok, it got a bit further....

Setup the HDD with the script, copied all the files to the A + B folder, with the updater file copied to root as well

It will get to about 23%, then fail with E106.

Then try and use offline installer with same files on USB, hangs on 0%, fails on E101. Tried multiple HDD's, so I doubt its the drive dying?

Also tried the reset everything option, same result...

I have the same problem... i need the files to the A + B folder for my dev version or higher. My os version is 19041.4672 (2011.201007-0000) I need help.

Let me know if you manage to find this, I have a feeling it would help mine as well!

The download in this post is for 19041.4981(newer than your dev build). This is what goes in the A + B folders along with your USB.

Yeah, that's the method have tried multiple times, with multiple different HDD's, no luck. Keeps going back to E106.

Yeah, I get the same problem here to. I tried updating my XBox One X with an SSD, the OS at the troubleshooting screen is 19041.4379 and downloading 4981 and using it did not work. So, I plugged the HDD back in, it completed the setup, for whatever reason, and that was that. However, some things stopped working so I tried a reset and ever since then, my machine only boots to the troubleshooting screen.

Thanks for the info here, by the way and hopefully, we will find a solution.

I have the same problem and the same firmware version. I think that we have to wait until the OSU1 file version is up to date with this firmware version. In worst case senario, wait for the November update to be able to restore the Xbox

I'm going to try something extreme, so will report back later... Basically updating a second Xbox to the insider preview firmware, and grabbing the A + B folders off there...

Hope that works, let us know. I tried the 4891 build from here and I get the E106 error, oh well.

Do you mean the OSU1 updater in November?

Is there a torrent of this update available? I'm on metered satellite and don't have enough bandwidth to waste on failed downloads over HTTP (and I'm only downloading 2-8AM to avoid using daytime bandwidth).

Theirs no torrent, however you could use a download manager which will resume downloads, such as Jdownloader for example.
