If you want an Original Xbox BIOS that does the clever stuff and gets set up from one text file, Cerbios is the one to have. It runs on every revision, 1.0 to 1.6, and handles retail games and homebrew alike. Fan control, reset combos, screenshots, an in-game LCD readout of FPS, CPU and temperatures, faster UDMA modes for bigger drives, dual hard drives, save redirection, Redump ISOs and per-game fixes are all switches in cerbios.ini. It's Team Cerbios's work, and the Phoenix Bios Loader that lets you try it without flashing is by Team Phoenix and Meetoo.

What's new in 3.1.0
  • Support for Team Resurgent's HDMI firmware
  • Cerbios Recovery starts by itself in SafeMode if it's on the hard drive, or hold White until the boot animation finishes
  • A Force SafeMode option for modchip OSes, and an XtalFreq setting for 100MHz FSB CPU upgrades
  • 1.6 consoles with 128MB Prehistoricman BGA RAM
  • Your own logo (180x50, JPG, BMP or PNG, named Brand) in E:\Cerbios\BootAnims\Xbox\ replaces the Microsoft/Cerbios logo
  • Plus the usual round of per-game fixes, Forza Motorsport and Return to Castle Wolfenstein saves among them

How to install:
  1. Copy the Cerbios folder to the root of E:\. Since 3.0 the ini lives at E:\Cerbios\cerbios.ini, so an ini left at the old path will misbehave.
  2. Modchip or TSOP: flash "Cerbios Hybrid V3.1.0 Beta.bin" like any other BIOS.
  3. No chip? Copy the Pheonix Bios Loader folder to the hard drive and run its default.xbe. The console reboots into Cerbios. It doesn't stick, a full reset puts your normal BIOS back.
The other .bin is for consoles upgraded to 256MB of RAM only, and that support is experimental. On any other console it won't do what you want.

Leave the overclock settings, and the Overclock Calc script that goes with them, alone unless you know what you're doing. Bad values can hurt the console. If your chip runs PrometheOS, Team Resurgent's modchip OS, it can flash this straight to a bank. If you're softmodded the Xbox Softmodding Tool gets you ready for the loader route.
