If PSP Tool, msipl_installer or Despertar del Cementerio stops with 'Not enough reserved sector space' or 'Not enough space for the IPL to fit', mspformat is the fix. It's a small Windows command-line program that formats a memory stick so the IPL for a Magic Memory Stick has room.

Check the drive letter twice: it formats whichever drive you name.
If it says 'Pseudo format is not necessary', the stick already has an IPL on it. Remove that with PSP Tool first.
Update: it's a 32-bit program written for Windows XP, so on a newer PC run it in an XP virtual machine. It goes with Rain's UltraLite MMS Maker and Ultra Pandora Installer.

- Back up the memory stick first, because it gets formatted.
- Open a Command Prompt as Administrator, go to the folder and type mspformat.exe followed by the drive letter, for example mspformat.exe G. It asks before it formats.
- Then run the Magic Memory Stick tool you were using again.
