This was all caused by MajorNelson himself.
You would have thought the head of Xbox Live might know that there are countries outside the United States of America, who's time zone are not the same.
But obviously not, he posted up the "chance to beta test" the new Xbox Experience up at around 3am GMT. Now, what would most normal people living in Europe be doing at that point? Lets think about it, 3am, week day, hmmm perhaps sleeping?
Some of those Europeans had to be up early for whatever they had planned, myself having to go to University. So I was up at a respectable 7am and my RSS feed updater on my desktop showed major nelson had posted it up.
I went to the site hoping to sign up and what did I get, the stupid "Object Error" which everyone was getting, apparently based on the fact the program was full already.
So what was that, within just over 4 hours it was full?
Most people in Europe didnt have a chance.
So what do we have to do? To try out the new experience we have to resort to a leaked copy, yes we cant connect to live with it. But some people love trying out new stuff and decide to take that risk. (Sadly I couldnt, due to my love for Gears of War 2). But these people who are downloading it are the fans: the fans that tell there friends to go out and buy 360's, the fans that buy tons of games for the console, the fans which are feeding money and free advertisement into Microsoft's Xbox.
And whats worse? He added two more waves into the beta program and guess what? He took it from the original flawed list. He hasnt once bothered to give anyone else a chance. What a way to thank you fans.
So lets hope when MajorNelson has got over his ego of shouting at web cams saying "HEY, IM MAJOR NELSON, I MUST SHOUT MY NAME" and accepted the fact he isnt a good replacement for Peter Moore or J Allard he might consider treating the fans with a bit more respect..
Until then, enjoy the download, 21,000 downloads and counting
