Plenty of older programs and video tools still go looking for QuickTime before they'll open a .mov, and this is the version to give them. QuickTime 7.7.9 is Apple's QuickTime 7 player for Windows, and it plays .mov and other QuickTime media.
Download:
Download QuickTime 7.7.9
Run QuickTimeInstaller.exe and follow the installer. If a program complains that QuickTime is missing, this is almost always what it wants.
Update: Apple stopped updating QuickTime for Windows in 2016 and no longer patches it, so 7.7.9 is the last release. Only install it if something needs it.
