Some of the early web's best games and animations were built in Adobe Director, and Shockwave Player is the plug-in that plays them. This is the full (licensed) MSI installer for the 12.3 release, the form to use when you're putting it on several PCs.
Download:
Download Shockwave Player 12.3
Unzip it and run sw_lic_full_installer.msi. For a silent install across a few machines, use msiexec /i sw_lic_full_installer.msi /qn.
Tip: Internet Explorer is the browser that will load the plug-in, so that's where to test it.
Update: Adobe discontinued Shockwave Player on 9 April 2019 and no longer supports it, so it gets no more security fixes. Keep it to an old PC or a virtual machine, not the computer you browse on. Shockwave content is now usually run through the Shockwave standalone player or through preservation projects.
