Downloaded a Windows 7 ISO and haven't got a disc to burn it to? This small free utility from Microsoft copies the ISO to a USB flash drive, or burns it to a DVD, and makes the result bootable so you can install Windows from it. It came out with Windows 7 for people who bought and downloaded the ISO instead of a boxed disc.
Download:
Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0.30
Tip: the USB drive is erased, so copy anything you want off it first.
You'll need a Windows ISO of your own. If you're after one for a reinstall, Digiex has the Windows 7 64-bit recovery disc, the Windows 7 32-bit recovery disc, the Windows Vista 64-bit recovery disc and the Windows Vista 32-bit recovery disc.
Update: Microsoft has since stopped offering this tool from its Download Center.

- Extract the zip and run Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool-Installer-en-US.exe. It needs the .NET Framework 2.0 or newer.
- Start the tool from the Start menu and browse to your Windows ISO.
- Choose USB device or DVD. For USB, pick a flash drive with at least 4 GB free.
- Click Begin copying, wait for the tool to say the bootable USB device was created, then boot the PC from it.
