This is the Xbox Classic emulator for the Xbox 360 which allows for original Xbox games to be played on the Xbox 360.

As this backwards compatibility update is hacked, it allows for more Xbox Classic games to be played on the Xbox 360 than are officially supported. Some of the games not officially supported play almost perfectly, however some have various issues.

The April 2018 Backwards Compatibility was hacked by Mathieulh

How to use:

If you have a JTAG / RGH hacked console you want to copy these files to Partition 2, it might be advisable to backup the original files first.

For devkits copy the Compatibilty folder to your devkits Y drive.

Hack Features:
  • Xbe signature checks removed (lets you run unsigned code)
  • Xbe section hash checks removed (lets u run hacked xbes)
  • Game region checks removed (region free baby!)
  • Game media checks removed (play games from your hard drive)
  • Debug/Devkit xbes supported (run your own xbox1 code)
  • Attempt to play unsupported games (doesn't mean it will work hehe)
  • In game HUD support * NEW * (this will let you access the Xbox 360 in-game menu while playing your OG Xbox title!)
  • Cross/in game voice chat * NEW * (this should let you use voice chat during OG Xbox gameplay, this is untested as I do not use online features myself, this may not work)
More Info:

This release contains 2 versions, one dubbed "Regular" inside the "Regular" folder which acts as the original emulator WITHOUT in-game menu support or cross/in game chat support.

The other one is dubbed "HUD_xgamechat" inside the "HUD_xgamechat" folder which supports the Xbox 360 in-game menu and in-game/cross game voice chat (which are new features of this hacked version)

I'll have to give this a go, I don't think I've updated my backwards compatibility on 360 for a very long time ... def before 2018... Still got a heap of old OG games to try and get workin' again, now that they've stopped adding to the back compat on the Xbox one.

Just installed this but the games kept freezing and entering a loading loop. So far I've tried Land of the Dead and Timesplitters 3.

i wanted to play classic XBOX games on my jtag XBOX. But the thing is i followed each and every step youtubers showed but my XBOX gets stuck on the classic XBOX logo i changed the compatibility files and got the above files but problem remains same.
Any help would be appreciated
 
Hello, I'm having the same problem as ahmad602, I try to load a game from Aurora and the console locks on the classic Xbox logo screen

My system dash is in version 2.0.17511.0, I get this console second hand and just instaled a hard drive today (it was this 4Gb arcade model) with an adapter caddy, just to play some Classic Xbox games, so I am not sure if I need to run this update or how to proceed to get the Xbox Classic games running on

Ps: To be honest, I am pretty new in this Xbox360 mod scene, as I have my first 360 for 2 days now :P

I'm not sure about the need for the update (and kind affraid to brick my console), as my avatars and kinect are working, when I put the new HDD the offical system asked for que console serial so it can format the disk and them this new HD become the main memory (and the 4Gb unity disapear)

I have already followed the tutorial to recreate partition 2 (Hddx) and put the Compatibility files there, before this, the games tries to load and get frozen on a black screen, now with the Compatibility files they get stuck in the Xbox Classic logo, when I hit this update thread I have already tested some different Compatibility files

BTW, my console is RGH
 
Hey InsaneNutter, I was searching some more through the forum and just found another topic were you suggests the instalation of DashLaunch to fix this same problem, have a try and it Worked!!

Now I can play the Xbox Classic games with no problems at all, thanks for the attention!

Ps. I just can't see any post that you appear without singing the Reggae Shark song in my mind hauhaua
 
Haha glad you know about the Reggae Shark, I hope people see that and Google it now! Also glad you got it working by installing Dash Launch!

I see several comments stating that the emulator gets stuck at the Xbox logo screen. I've stumbled across the same problem, and wanted to share my problem to narrow it down and hopefully find a fix. If I try to start an OG Xbox game while I have my stealth server enabled my console crashes at a black screen. I tested with a different stealth server, and got the same symptoms: a freeze at the white Xbox logo screen. Disabling all Dashlaunch plugins allows the games to boot right up. Any idea why stealth servers would cause the backwards compatibility emulator to crash, and is it possible to hack it to make it play nicely with these plugins? Its not necessarily that I need a stealth server while playing these games, its just a pain to disable every time I want to play them. If its caused by the emulator trying to access XBLive when it boots, would it be possible to just hack out those calls since the whitelist has been hacked out anyway?
 
I swear to God the only game I wanna play on this is the legacy of kain Defiance. Did the add it to the collection, hopefully?!

Does anyone know how to play multidisc xbox classic games?
Multidisc games don't seem to change disc automatically like xbox 360 games on hdd and starting the game from disc2 doesn't work.

I have the game folder and inside i put Disc1 and Disc2 subfolders, but classic games don't work this way i guess.

Can someone help? Thanks.

Hi, can you please tell me how post are you relating? mine freeze on black screen and a I have already run The Hdd partition fixer and updated the "Compatibility" folder
