ok, so i have the fat xbox 360
i also have a hard drive
i also have followed ur tutorial (great job btw)about restoring the partition2 and all went EXACTLY as you described...

...but it does not work

when i insert my xbox1 game it tells me that i need an update (which i thought i just did)

if i look at it with xplorer360 it shows that partition 2 is there but it will not work when i try to play old xbox games and yes they are on the compatible list.

what am i doing wrong? as i said NOTHING went wrong in any way during any part of the restore
i also tried 4 different games just to see and all did the same (you need an update blah blah blah)
i do not connect to xboxLIVE and do not want to so PLEASE don't say just hook to xbox live

can any one please help me?

---UPDATE---

i installed the new partition2 file u put in the link. followed ur instructions and all went just as it should.
i put the drive back on the 360 and tried it out but no go. tried two different games both are on the BC list
here is the message i get
"THIS ORIGINAL XBOX GAME IS NOT SUPPORTED ON YOUR XBOX360 CONSOLE. AN UPDATE TO SUPPORT THIS GAME MAY BE AVAILABLE. FOR MORE INFO, GO TO ...."

according to WIKI all the games i have should be BC compatible.
i have tried
DOOM 3
Mercenaries
Sniper Elite ( changed the screen to 480i ) this is the main game i want to work
Fable

i don't know why it keeps asking for an update when we just did that.
btw i have a 20gig drive. it shows partition3 but i only have tried to restore partition2

i can provide u with any answers to questions u may have regarding my system or setup if needed. please feel free to ask if u need to and thanks in advance

i just downloaded the file from that thread. can i apply this thru xplorer360? or do i have to burn to a disc? i like to not have to burn to a disc if possible.

You have to burn it to a disc,i'm confused why the one i uploaded didn't fix it.

 

i had to find me a disc to burn it to which i just did. i will be testing it out shortly. im not sure why the other did not work either. i do have a Backup Compatible 360 if that makes any difference. well it just got done so i am off to test it out. be back shortly.

IT WORKED!!!! i can play original xbox games only. i tried an xbox1 backup game and i got a strange error. it has an error that has

X:5829.0 B:1884.0

do you know what this might mean???

i have done some reading and have come up with a couple of ideas to what it could be. can u tell me if i am close?

it is not a 1:1 backup.
or
it is not on Dual Layer

I found from google, that you can only run RETAIL Xbox 1 games. If you try a backup/ISO/Modded whatever Xbox 1 game, it will not work. :/ Sorry.

 

I purchased an ofical xbox 360 250 GB hard drive from amazon. It works with the Xbox but won’t play the older games. I formatted it when I first got it before I tried playing the older games. I got the cable and I have the hard drive hooked up to the PC via the USB connector that is part of the cable.

I can’t get Xplorer 360 to see the drive.

“could not find a FATX drive to open.”

What might the problem be?

when i first tried to hook up my HDD to pc transfer cable, i had the same problem. what fixed mine was either wiggle'n the connector to xbox360 hdd, or turn it around. once i fiddled with it, it made contact and all was fine. don't know if that will help you but this is what i ran into at first.

I recently purchased an Xbox 360 Slim 4gb along with a WD 250gb Scorpio Blue off Amazon.

I fully understand everything up until after the hddhackr in dos prompt.

What I find isn't explained very well is after that point. What if I just wanted to start from scratch and transfer my save files with a USB stick later? What exactly is the purpose of running Xplorer 360 Extreme?

 

1.You can skip the xplorer save files copying part if you just want to use a USB stick to transfer save files.

2.To restore partition 2, which lets you play xbox original games like halo & many others.(This can be skipped also if you don't play these games)

 

I have not been able to restore partition 2, the process seems to be going on forever. Any ideas of what might be wrong?

 

Thank you SO much for putting this out there! Those of us that need to pinch pennies shouldn't be deprived of older emulated games. Thanks again!
