Digiex's UT 2004 Server

Is there something wrong with the server again? The loading screen keeps flickering and i can't get in.

I do not have this problem with other servers.

Its been re started now, i do try and check it at least once a day if i remember. But as always feel free to post here.

Private servers are fine, but do you offer an admin plan of some kind for the current UT2004 server? In other words, some kind of basic access that would accord paying users a few admin rights, such as uploading maps, resetting the server (), etc. I understand that there might be some security issues with such a plan, but it never hurts to ask.

The current server is paid for by CurlySteve, Nimrod, Trebor and Myself as a gift to the community (we have just renewed it for another 12 months so enjoy )

The only downside is we are all very busy at the moment with coursework or jobs so none of us really play at the moment.

If we did expend in the future and offered servers to the public to rent you would get access to start, stop, configure, add maps / mods and so on. Its something we would be interested in doing in the future.

New mutator

I proposed several mutators (2k4_vehiclestuff, SantaHat, parachute) without success .
No problem, I'm not discouraged.

Description:
This mutator gives manta drivers, who carry their flag carrier, points and adrenaline for carrying him upon flag capture. The points he gets represent the active mantarun time of the flag run. So if the flag carrier only sat half the time of his flag run on a manta, the driver will only get half the points and adrenaline.

However, I will say that Leecher got on my nerves 15 days ago, with his arrogant & condescending attitude. It's a shame, too, because his aim is amazing -- unless he's aimbotting ... ?

HEHE this post makes me smile. I've known Leecher since the beginning of UT2004 as he was a regular on the Jolt AS servers (we both played AS quite alot) and I can say we were both really skilled at the time I didn't see him for some time after until I got into ICTF and TAM when I saw him again. I can tell you that he doesn't aimbot as I can kill him and I wouldn't dare dream of aimbotting on our own server (not that I do on any other, I'm not sad enough to pay for one, the only way I know how people get aimbots these days). As for this whole bad language and behaviour I might have to start going on the server when it's busy (anyone tell me when that is?) and see what happens.

well I'll try to get onto the servers tonight or tomorrow and will ask him nicely to try and keep things civilised. I can't remember if we've actually banned anyone from the server yet and hope we won't have to. I know it's not nice.

We really do need to implement a script that will check its running every 5 mins and re start the server if not, if anyone can do that in Linux it could be of great help.

It is strange that the server crashes. What in the server logs?
If it's not a problem with the hoster, maybe a mutator problem.

We had a lot of problems with UT comp and VCTF, it was recommended we use the version were on now!

As for Leecher, no, he's not aimbotting, it was a poor attempt at humor on my part. I manage to frag him quite often actually. And after trying to tell him to stop spamming the chat with his boasts, whines, and insults, I stopped, because it only encouraged him. Now I and other regulars just ignore his bilious spewings. Although I confess I do LOL when his team loses a match. He explodes like Mt. Vesuvius. It's most entertaining.

For once the server been down wasn't because it had crashed, there was a small outage at the datacenter where the server is hosted, the server was still online just not accessible!

The map VCTF-AtomicSands2004-LD by Gorge has been added, it should be playable after the server next changes map.

LOL can't say I've never noticed that before. Good find there Gorge. I have to admit Redrooms is perhaps one of my favourite VCTF maps on our server. I usually hax on it (InsaneNutter and Nimrods words not mine) by using the lifts for shortcuts. As for Leecher, when I went on the server the other day he seemed to behave himself. Might be the fact that I knew him, he had no idea I was an admin on the server or part owned it and I was logged in as admin at the time. If you do tire of him just choose to ignore his chat, teamchat etc in the "escape" menu by right clicking his name and choosing the ignoring options. That's what I tend to do with some players.

I agree : RedRooms is one of the best maps.

One of the major changes that I made on this map doesn't work on the Digiex server :
the jumps of bots on the pipes and the use (by the bots) of elevators to go on defense on higher spots
because the skill of the bots is not higher enough. (under 4).

Those who want to see it :
-play offline
-launch RedRooms with bots skill at least 'Adept'
-enjoy the challenge
