I'm curious, I THINK I am doing this right, but am not 100% sure...

So I've formatted the card to FAT32; extracted the StarterV3 .zip thing so that the wiiu folder is on the SD; inserted the SD into the wii u; and went on the page... (Essentially followed the instructions step by step...)

What happens though is I see a white page with the WiiU logo in the bottom right... Does this mean I did something wrong; or that I just need to keep going on the page over and over until the launcher is installed?

Unfortunately yes, the exploit is unreliable. What you are describing there is the Wii U crashing, just keep trying and it will eventually work.

Once you have got it working you can install the exploit permanently as described on the first page.

Okay so I've followed all the steps correctly. My SD card is formatted correctly and I have all the necessary files on it, but every time I try to load it, the screen goes white with the Wii u logo in the bottom corner and then the screen goes black and says 'FSOpenFile failed.' I've tried loading this for a while now, should I just keep trying??

Okay so I fixed this problem, but when I access the homebrew menu and go into our loader, I load the application but then it just returns me to the mii maker with loading the different region game. I think my problem is that I'm trying to load different region Wii games on the Wii U. Should this method work for that? If not, is there any way to make it work?

    Hi,guys
I try hacking my WII U with Homebrew launcher.I followed a nice tutorial on youtube but when I would open the launcher I get the black screen with message
    Could not load file /wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.
Am I doing something wrong or/and missing somethings for running?
I use a 4gb sd card at the moment (will update tomorrow to 32gb) when I used mSD with adaptor I got different error message.
    Thanks for help any way

Is the SD Card FAT32 Formatted?

What have you currently copied to the SD card?

Hi, and thanks a lot for your efforts.

I wanted to know if after doing all of the steps, and running a game from the SD card, will just removing the SD card from the console, setting the DNS to auto obtain and clearing browsing data will return the console as it was (legit, not modified) or there are more things I need to do, or it is not even possible?

    Thank you.

I mean, as I understand it, the homebrew is being run by the browser, from an SD card, the game is also being run from the SD card, so there are no modifications are done to the firmware on the console itself. I just want to asses the risks, if this procedure compromises my console to bricking, getting permanently banned or blacklisted.

It would be really great if you have track of what actually happens when the hack works.

    Thanks again.

As soon as you power the console off the console will return to a legit unmodified state, to sum it up basically you are using a web browser exploit to memory edit, which is not permanent. When ram (memory) looses power everything is erased.

All you can do that is permanent is install legit Wii U games that does install a ticket permanently on the Wii U's nand, meaning the game can load without homebrew providing its the same region as your console.

Their's no permanent hack that's not reversible at this time, even if you follow the Wii U Permanent Homebrew Channel / Launcher Exploit Tutorial you can simply delete the DS game you hack in that tutorial and your easy way to launch the exploit has gone.

Great answer, great one, this is exactly the kind of explanation that I was looking for, I totally understand it, and I'm very thankful.

If I understood correctly, I need to hack the console everytime I turn it on, if I want to use the hack funcions, of course.

But let's say I use the hack once and then reboot the console. If I do not hack it again, can I use all of the wii u online functions? Or it is not possible after the hack?

You can emulate the following on the Wii U:

    GBA
    Sens
    GB / GBC
    Chip8
    Nes
    Mame
    MegaDrive / Genesis
    ZX Spectrum
    RetroArch
    Pokemon Mini
    FBA Alpha
    Lynx

You can also Inject DS roms / make your own custom DS games to launch from the Home Screen, same with N64 and other consoles where games are sold on the Eshop for.

You can also hack the vWii which gives you access to other emulators which were out on the original Wii.

Do you have any Wii U homebrew apps in the \wiiu\apps folder on your SD card?

Not yet. I am literally just installing the homebrew launcher for the first time ever, and when the exploit does work, it just stays on the blue loading screen.

Then everything is working fine, if you had some homebrew apps on the SD card they would show and you would see more than the background with the bubbles.
