slower than 94% of GB virgin medias supposed to be 2mb except it speeds up to 2mbit midnight to 9am for some reason
You are basically on a 0.5mb connection, if you download 200mb between 9am and 9pm your connection gets a speed cut by 75%. Have a look at Virgins traffic management policy here: http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy.html How much are you paying for 2mb? i hope its next to nothing as you should easily be on 10mb!!
my mum pays for it they make her pay £15 ive told her she is getting ripped off by them but they insist she has a constant 2mb line and we dont download much and if we do i leave it on through nite as restrictions dont apply then
If your phone line is with Virgin then you can actually get 10meg cheaper than what your paying for now! http://shop.virginmedia.com/broadband/up-to-10mb.html If 2meg is fine for you than fair enough
Yup BT infinity. but i'm not connected to fibre optic cable ! some spooky s**t going on to make it so fast on a regular phone line Well until everyone else gets on it and slows it all down
Its Fiber to the phone cabinet on your street, the last bit of the journey from the cabinet to your house is still done on the same old copper phone wires. So now its basically the closer you are to the phone cabinet on your street the better speeds you will get. All BT need to do in the future is replace that copper wire and you have fiber directly to your home, which will easily give you much greater speeds yet again
