Pokemon GEN3 E-Reader Eon Ticket Save File Download [Ready to Distribute on Emulator]

This is a GBA E-Reader save file with the Eon Ticket scanned and ready to distribute to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. This will allow you to emulate the Eon ticket distribution to your Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire save game.

The Eon Ticket allows you to travel to the Southern Island via S.S.Tidal once the Elite Four have been defeated, this is where the version-opposite Eon Pokémon can be battled and caught, Latias or Latios, depending on your game.

What you need to unlock this on an emulator:

1. To get started download VBA Link with E-Reader + Link Cable Emulation

2. You will a Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire rom you will have to provide yourself

3. In addition you will need a rom of the USA GBA E-Reader, if you Google Card e-Reader ( U ) (Independent) you should find this easily

4. Finally you will need the e-Reader save with the Eon Ticket already scanned on to it.

The 128KB savegames are meant for the e-Reader (US) retail cartridge or emulator usage, while the 64kB savegames are meant for flashcarts since usually they have a 64kB sram.

Supported game languages include: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Please use the save game for the language which matches your Pokemon game.

Setting things up:

Extract the VBA Link Emulator with E-Reader support

Copy your Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire rom and e-Reader rom in to the emulators folder.

Your Pokemon save game should be named the same as the Pokemon rom with the .sa1 file extension
The e-Reader save should be named the same as the e-Reader rom with the .sa2 file extension

Example below:

You now want to load VBA up twice.

In the VBA window you first opened load your Pokemon game rom, in the second load the e-Reader rom.

You might need to change the controls on the second VBA window which has the e-Reader rom running, otherwise they will conflict with your Pokemon Ruby game:

Keep in mind if you don't have the Mystery Events option on your Pokemon save game you have to have obtained the 5th Gym Badge and be in Petalburg City. You can then go in to the Pokemon Center and talk to this man:

You can then tell him: Mystery Event Is Exciting, as below:

Press ok and Mystery Event will be unlocked. Remember to save your game.

Next time you load the game Mystery Event will be an option on the main menu.

Now that everything is setup select "Mystery Events" on your Pokemon Game, then "Access Save data" on the E-Reader:

Press the "A" Button on your Pokemon game to load the event:

The Eon Ticket should then be delivered:

That's all, you can now go to the Petalburg gym and start the story line unlocked by the Eon Ticket:

You can now enjoy the Eon Ticket event without having to use any cheats or save game modifications to unlock it, totally legit!

Also if anyone's interested, this should work with flashcards (as obvious as that may be.)

I can't say about EZ-Flash IV and Everdrive, but it worked with EZ-Flash 3in1 so I'd expect it also works on EZIV, at least.
3in1 lite-sized can be used on a real gba/sp if you have something to bridge the connection between the gba game slot and the 3in1 (I used a gameshark.) Otherwise you may have to gut a gba game and stick the 3in1 board inside to get it to fit in a gba (you will have to cut down a hole in the retail gba cart shell for the battery to fit.)
Just write the rom to NOR with the save using gba_exploader or something and you're good to go, as long as the battery in your 3in1 isn't dead.

EZIV being similar enough to 3in1 it should work straight off PSRAM but I haven't tried so not gonna guarantee anything. Of course if you own an actual e-reader you may be able to write this save file to it and do it more or less legit too

Hey quick question, how did you dump the save file to include it already scanned?
I'm trying to make dumps of other cards, but can't figure out how to do it even with the eon ticket like you have since it never offers me an option to save to memory.

Doesn't the scanned card always just save to e-reader save memory by default?
I guess maybe it depends on the card, and other cards might not work that way and wouldn't be able to be dumped that way.

Unless i'm missing something, when you scan the eon ticket it asks you to connect to R/S (like shown above) then just says A to rescan, or B to quit. Once you quit you're left with Scan Cards/Communication with no saved data/eon ticket.

The NES games ask you to save to memory, since you have to have 10 scans to play the game, afaik stuff like eon ticket doesn't so i'm wondering how this file got generated in the first place.

I was wondering this same thing for the exact same reasons when I first came across this savefile elsewhere. I wasn't able to find a definite answer after a bit of looking, but my best assumption is that it was probably dumped from memory (RAM) while the system was still running. Don't ask me how this could be done, I don't know, but it's my only guess.

Yeah, an e-reader eon ticket save file was floating around the internet for a while before, this is most likely the same one that was uploaded here.

We don't really know who originally made/got that save file, so we wouldn't be able to know how they did it. But I can see how you might think Nutter made that save himself since the first post doesn't really specify anything either way.

Maybe the raw e-card data in save file is the same byte-for-byte with the raw dotcode data files that are floating around, and someone just copy/pasted into a different e-reader save file that had a different card scanned? idk <-- talking out of my butt

If that was how they did it, then it wouldn't really help since that requires already having the cards dumped.
How do people dump cards to raw dotcode data anyway?

Hm, I found an inject tool somebody made (Poke-Reader 1.1) which asks for a .bin file of an e-reader card and a VPK file to make a .sav without needing to scan the card. However whenever I load a .bin it gives me a read error and I have no idea what a .vpk file is.. haha.

e-Reader stuff is so hard to find any information on given how dead of a product it was back in the day, so all threads i find are 10 years old with a bunch of dead links and no idea how people have created dumps of the e-battle/eon ticket cards in a .sav format. I guess I need to go buy some photo paper and try printing out codes myself.

They tell how the Eon Ticket save file was created, the data from the e-card was injected in the e-reader save meaning that it could be used from the menu without scanning the card. The Eon Ticket was never supposed to save (at least not permanently, only temporary in RAM). That's the only modification they made so this is perfectly legit

Just some more info about this just in cause someone in the future will try this:

I have been playing around with this and (it must be obvious) it only works for english roms.
The game recognises the distribution in other languages but in the last step it fails, it must verify the game region in that step.
With a little work it maybe can be edited to work with the european languages but it´s unnecessary because we can always mix records with an english rom (and editing this would make in not 100% legit).

It would be nice to have the Eon Ticket distro, maybe someday in the future...

Sorry that I'm replying to an old post.
Has anyone put this onto a flashcart such as an everdrive? Because I'm having issues with it, it'll load and display the message to "Press A on the Game Boy Advance containing Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire to being sending the EON TICKET" message. However, my retail Sapphire cartridge won't display the screen to press A to actually receive the EON TICKET, instead staying on the link stand by screen. If anybody knows, how can I fix this?

Even though your using a rom of the E Reader the receiving GBA probably doesn't recognise your GBA with the flash card as having an E Reader present. The Emulator mentioned in the first post is is emulating the E Reader hardware, in addition to loading the E Reader rom, so this probably won't work how your intending to do it.

The best thing to do might be to backup your GBA save to the PC, distribute the EON ticket on an emulator, then restore the save to the GBA. It will be the same end result.

I use GBA Backup Tool with a DS flashcart to backup my GBA saves.

Another alternative would to be purchasing an e-Reader on eBay (iirc they're only worth between $10-20), then use the GBA Backup Tool to write the save onto the e-Reader.

Yeah was looking into buying one from e-bay, however shipping to Australia most of the time is more expensive than the item itself lol. Will probably end up doing as Deoxyz says and using a DS Lite to load the save onto the e-reader I ordered .

I know this thread is kinda old, but I still wanted to post this considering spuppy had problems doing this on real hardware with a flashcard. I got it to work with the Ezflash Omega (which is quite recent) and wanted to share the process. The whole thing is a little bit picky, so if you do anything out of order it will not work.

Always plug in your link cable first before turning on your Gameboys. In this case, I made the Gameboy with the Pokemon game Player 1 (just like the first post here recommends doing with emulators). Turn on the Gameboy with the right game and correct language.
Player 2 will be the Gameboy with the flashcard. Now at this point, I went ahead and applied the SRAM patch to the ereader.gba using GBATA (By No-Intro).
Take your flashcard's micro SD card and put the patched ereader.gba inside the " Gameboy Advance " folder and the 64kb ereader.sav inside the " SAVER " folder. Important: Precise names matter for this kind of stuff, so don't give folders or files the wrong names. Even an extra letter could mess these things up. So copy+paste the correct names to avoid mistakes. Make sure that the ereader ROM and save file have the exact same name. Also, I needed the 64kb version of the save file for things to work.

Connect the flashcard Gameboy with the Plaer 2 side of the link cable, turn it on, and launch the game without the flashcard doing anything extra. This may vary beteen different flashcards, but in my case I got the options to launch the erader.gba in different ways, so just go with the first choice. Then, it should be as easy as preparing both Gameboys so that they're a single A press away from sending or receiving the ticket. Press A on both Gameboys at once and there you go.

Update: For those who want to re-create this event distribution on an EZ Flash Omega you can simply use the 128kb e-reader.sav file without having to patch your e-reader rom. I am not sure if this is rom specific but using the e-Reader (USA).rom from Vimm's Lair appears to natively save in 128kb .sav format which is compatible with the EZ Flash Omega's sram. Otherwise when using original hardware make sure the e-Reader.sav file has the exact same file name as your e-reader rom (e.g. e-Reader (USA).sav for the rom from Vimm's Lair if you haven't renamed it) and is located in the SAVER folder on your microSD. Additionally, make sure that your link cable is first party and that the player 1 (purple) end is plugged into the gba with Ruby or Sapphire and the player 2 (grey) end is in the gba with the flashcard as BarschwaOnTheRocks mentioned. If you have done these things correctly then you should be able to follow the e-reader rom instructions and easily distribute the eon ticket (or any other e-reader ticket) event.

So I've been trying to write the 128k save to my e-reader using the NDS backup tool but it doesn't seem to be working in that when I try to load the e-reader after writing to the save to it, it doesn't have the ticket on it and I can't seem to load any cards from the read data at all. So from what I can tell, my e-reader doesn't seem to be the one that the OP has. Mine is the Model No. AGB-010. It's a dark blue one which I thought was the US one... Or is it perhaps a fake...?

Which is the one the OP has or is there a save somewhere that would work with my e-reader? Thanks for any reply

Does AGB-010 have the link cable passthrough? If it doesn't, I don't know how you'd connect the GBA with the card reader to a second GBA which would have the Pokemon game you are interacting with. I did re-confirm that GBA_Backup_Tool.nds works to restore the save onto an AGB-014 card reader (the version which has the passthrough).
